The Dark Side

At some point, we all need to face our greatest threat: a Shadow that followed us through our entire lives. We all have a Dark Side which we learn to control or hide, but which we can never defeat. It's a part of ourselves which we don't want to acknowledge as one; until it bursts into flames in our minds.

The Dark Side (I'm not referring to the Star Wars one) is something of a wonderful thing to me: during our lives we search for identity, for truth, and the Dark Side reveals to us the most important one: the truth about ourselves. We've all been through that - in the time of deep sadness we hear it's voice, telling us who we are.

And here we come into the famous scene from the 'Empire...': Luke faces Vader and defeats him, only to see that he was Luke himself. The point here, as I interpret it, is that we can not destroy the Dark Side that's inside us without destroying ourselves. The only way to fight it, is to accept it as part of us (do you remember Persona 4?).

When did you have to duel with your own shadow? How do you view it?

as i have said before we have different facets of our personalities some stronger with the light and some stronger with the dark. some times the darkness overwhelmes the light and we forget who we are only untill we learn to cultivate only the light and carry faith and hope in our hearts.

If we let the dark sides in all of us free the world would be in a bigger mess than it is. i hope that someday i can control my darkside, as i am sometimes very angry, and the world can be at peace. i hate seeing the news when the only stroys are of people dying. i know that wasn't an answer to the question asked but it is a part of it. what i mean is that what has happened, all this war, it comes from anger and misunderstanding, like the darkside. it can be used for bad or good.
