Here is mine.

I'm getting out of the service on my own terms, I'm starting college. My family is looking forward to me coming home, and love me. I have finally beaten depression after 2 years and I'm ready to face the future ahead of me and trying to experience the moment.

Everybody share some positivity!

I just paid off my student loans, with money to spare. I'm taking a risk and moving away to stay with my gf while she attends grad school (risks are a big part of what life is about, right? Get out of your comfort zone and try something new- get hurt, learn, feel new feelings, live.) I haven't found a job in my field in the area yet, but if I can't get a job I'll have a year to devote to getting some much wanted R&R- I'd find a job to make ends meet, but beyond that I would aim to only have commitments to those things that feel meaningful to me and I feel good taking part in.

I'm blessed to have the resources to be able to take a year off from *full-time* work and not go bankrupt.

I feel like I'm slowly getting out of my depression and even have moments where my mind is actually sharp. My recollection is getting better. I have moments when I know life is going right- I don't know how, but I feel it deep down, and it makes me feel good about life.

Oh, and I mention my girlfriend? She's seriously the most awesome person in my life besides my twin. Been there for me at my lowest points, no complaints. I hope to never take her for granted, she's like a tiger/kitten/cuddle-monster all in one.

My siblings. Two of them are seriously the only people irl who can make me bust a gut- I haven't met other people with their kind of spastic, random sense of humor. My frister (friend & twin sister). Tina Fey was right when she said we should make everyone twins- I don't want to make non-twins feel bad, but having a twin is great. She's like me (same major memories, had many of the same friends, same teachers, experiences the same life crises when I do, etc.) knows me inside and out, and we have enough differences in how we see things to give each other good advice.

My class is awesome- genuinely good students with not a bad apple in the bunch, some just need more help and guidance than others.

And sleep is AWESOME, which I'm off to do now. Thank you for creating this thread csmith, this was a nice way to end the night :)

Well, for me, my life is finally going well. I still have student loans, and still living with my parents, but things at work are just getting better and better. I found out a few days ago that many of the customers that come into our store have been calling headquarters and putting in compliments about my customer service, many of them stating that they think I should be managing my own store. Both of my assistant managers have pulled me to the side to discuss my future with Wal-Mart, urging me to stay with it and work my way through the ranks. They have started working with me on teaching me things outside of my area (things required of salary management positions) and my store manager has started giving me more responsibilities. There are things that go on in the manager's office that I have been given access to that people of my position don't normally have.

Some of the businesses around our store have managers who occasionally come in and shop have tried to get me to come work for them. The technician that comes in to fix our computers at the registers always tells me that I should work for their company, as I am always fixing the problems before they even arrive.

So that's what's been going on with me. It's so hard for me to type that, because I do NOT like boasting about myself. Unfortunately, I have learned that to progress in the business world, you have to learn to do that. You have to be able to sell yourself to your superiors. So yeah, there's my awesome tid-bit for this thread, lol.

Life in a of itself, and how the Force takes care of me when I do not ...

But touching on what one normally considers "awesome", as in 'the things we greatly enjoy', I would have to saye that at the head the list are 'my good boys'. This could be a bit misleading, for some or my 'good boys' are girls ; it is just an affectionate way of talking about my former students.

I left teaching in 2007 upon realising (as Sir Ken Robinson and Martha Nussbaum, among many others have been pointing out) that schools had become 'robot-factories' in the economic super-structure, no longer educating per se, but churning out rather mindless (meaning 'no critical reasoning skills or humanities interest') machines to support the western hegemonic paradigm. The machine factory mistrusted me, and was reciprocal ...

Having been educated quite sternly in the ways of the Force as a child, and then by Destiny along a winding 'formal' educative path, I was 'accidentally' prepared to teach a few different subjects, at high school level and uni, which I did for a number of years. When teaching either philosophy or language, it was much more effective to teach the matter through the students' own perspective. Philosophy must be an applied science, pertinent to one's Life, otherwise it is only a branch of History. And for language learning, it stands to Reason that whatever language one is speaking (as a native or as a learner), one first and foremost has to have something to say.

So, we would begin by working through a 'story' that someone of the class would tell, learning the language appropriate for expressing real-life happenings and/or the philosophical trains that would lead to clearer perspectives (rather than just single subjectivity) on real-life events. And, most importantly, we would laugh a lot, sometimes cry, sometimes argue ... our classroom was not bound up by a 'classroom' atmosphere. I didn't mind lecturing, but I loved listening to them too.

We made use of a lot of materials. Films, song lyrics, Hume, Kant, The Power of Myth videos, "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" (in the interest of getting through a school year in ONLY a year, I did not have them read "The Masks of God" although some of them have since done ...) and many of them saw their marks in other classes improving as well.

The students loved it, the schools hated it. By teaching students to use their intuition and live their own lives, some of my colleagues viewed this as undermining the system and being to the detriment of the students. This has not as yet revealed itself to be the case. In the time since, students will come back to me, presenting me their wives (or husbands), their children, their parents ... In some cases, even parents would solicit counsel on some matter important to them. In a few cases, it was even ponderous, as whether to have an abortion or to get a divorce. A Jedi's responsibility is a crucial one.

In March of 2007, another job was presented to me that allowed me to leave teaching (by the Force, apparently I had done what I was there to do in the scheme of Destiny). I am no longer a 'teacher' yet still have my students. Am no longer a 'teacher' but still get to learn from the learning shared.

Not every teacher has the privilege of seeing his students grow up, being proud of them for their successes and how they deal with adversity, and being allow to participate to some degree in Life.

Thank the Force, thank the gods and devils too -- this is what is 'awesome' in Life.

This is a great thread csmith! Sometimes it's easy to focus on the negatives and forget all about what's 'awesome' in our lives!

I graduated university and opted not to take the easy route and do the job that I was trained for, which I know would currently be making me very unhappy if I had done it! I have a world of possibilities out there ahead of me!

My singing career is taking off as much I could hope for. I have had, and continue to get, many opportunities that other singers just as good as I am will never get. That's pretty awesome!

I have wonderful relationships with both my father and younger sister, the latter of which hasn't always been the case. Some people will tell you it's sad if your best friends are members of your own family. I think it's fantastic. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I'm making a difference in the lives of the children at my church. The children in the choir have recently been coming to me for spiritual guidance, and apparently (their's and their parent's words, not mine!) they aspire to be like me, as singers and as people. There is nothing anyone has ever said to me that has been more humbling. I've also recently become a leader of the Sunday School (the bit where the children go out of half of the service and do child-friendly activities). It feels like fulfilling a calling. And the feeling of acknowledging, accepting and fulfilling a calling is...wonderful.

And I couldn't miss out TOTJO. I'm not going to bother explaining all of the ways in which being here has contributed to the 'awesomeness' of my life, because I'm sure it's the same for all of you, but it really has made a massive difference to me.

I agree with what Hadi said - this was difficult because it feels almost like boasting. But that's part of what's so great about this thread. Sometimes I don't like to acknowledge things in my life that go well because I hate boastfulness. But it isn't boasting, is it? We're not even writing this stuff for people to read, necessarily...it's just an interesting exercise to do for oneself. And something that I should probably do more often.

One thing in my life that's amazing is the next phase I'm about to go through.

I will be returning to stay with my parents for two months or so. They live on ten acres of land in the country outside Katy, Texas. I am going to take a break from working, so I'll be able to focus my days on meditation, connecting with nature, helping encourage my parents, and doing projects around the house. I'll get to be around my cat Buddy, who is the most amazing feline I've had the honor of knowing. And I have several friends that I will reconnect with as well.

All in all, it is shaping up to be wonderful.

What is awesome in my life? well for starters the fact that I actually don't have to sit here for an absurd amount of time and think of a real answer to this question for once in my life. I thank you for asking this for the muse of my enlightened day. Things that are the most awesome in my life right now: I have an amazing boy friend I'd do absolutely anything for and I truly believe he would do the same for me. also I am graduating in less than a two weeks and them I'm off on an amazing adventure.

The innate abilities of learning, understanding, and applying. Without those what would we be?
