There is a debate going on as to weather or not we should keep the edit you're own thread function

This thread is to get you, the community, to have you're say on the matter

Should we retain the ability to edit our own threads and if so why?

What are the reasons against

Now you're just being silly. Did you check your post for spelling mistakes before submitting it or were you just doing that to make a point?

If only all edits automatically came over as bold then any edit could be plain for all to see.

Edit: Ï forgot to say I know this cannot be done probably at all, but a possible, albeit difficult, programming solution could be to insert a copy of the original message within a spoiler tag automatically after a post is edited. Done behind the scenes automatically by the coding it would always mean the original message was available to be viewed within the spoiler tags.

Perhaps I am, but do you see my point in terms of corrections?

I just made a useful edit to my post above, so I'm ok with the edit available for a certain amount of time. Any change after that would have to be serious enough to perhaps warrant the assistance of a forum admin.

To summarise some of the points I made in Chat:

1) Everyone can edit their own posts for 1 hour after making them. This should be plenty of time to review and edit spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

2) As a suggestion, it is good practice when recording your work to create it in something like Word, then review and alter it before submitting to the forum.
