Some one was told to cover up of they couldn't fly. Does that sound right?
What happens when we stop flying? More rules? Will it get more ..silly.. yea that's the right word I think.
I personally don't fly any more. I used to enjoy flying ...alot. I would go to the airports and meet new folks and even drink at the little bar there in El Paso TX. Now, there is no way I can get in unless im actually flying and have business in an airport, forget about lunch and landing days...Me and the man cub would call lunch at the airport Lunch and Landing.

Is there seriously a dress code for flying? As a Jedi I would love to hear what you think on the matter. I love you guys here and was thinking about yall!
May the Living Force be with you all!
Thanks for your answers in advance and for taking time to join this one!

Personally I think they look weird with that sweater but I see no reason why she should've been forced to change them.

The only time I think a dress code for airplanes is appropriate is if it's a legitimate safety concern, and I can't really think of good reasons to limit clothes in that regard. Maybe if a woman was trying to board while wearing one of those gigantic poofy dresses that stick out an extra three feet in all directions. How would she sit? But that's just ridiculous.

lol Goken you made me smile with the sweater thing, yea... not my cup of tea but if...IF liberty can be taken by the pilots... that's guna change things hu?
Who else can take their liberties as such?
When will we learn and see that the power of the Individual is strong. The pilot just did it on his own.

This is a tough one, mostly because flying in the U.S. is a huge pain in the ass anyway. Safety is a huge priority, but you've also got people from all over the world with different ideas about appropriate behavior. LAX is like the Mos Eisley Cantina sometimes.

As a passenger, you've got TSA to get through, who will have you wait in line for an hour and then remove your shoes so they can either grope you or put you through a machine that sees through your clothes anyway. Then you get to be herded onto the plain like livestock and fight over a place to put your carry on luggage. Eventually, you get to squeeze into a tiny seat, hopefully not next to the obnoxious business guy douche who spends the whole flight telling you how much money he makes or the five year old who's bored and being ignored by his parents.

After all this, a passenger just wants to be comfortable in their seat. I understand that we have to agree on some common standard of decency, but I've seen adult passengers in footy pajamas before. :pinch: Simply completing a flight without people punching each other should be considered a success.

IMHO, if you get through TSA in what you're wearing, it should be good enough for the airlines as well. At least they were smart enough to pay for the extra clothing and offer her a voucher. Someone in their PR department gets a gold star for that gesture.

This story appeared in my community awhile ago because I am a burlesque dancer. Our community - some of whom know the subject personally - was outraged, and I agree with them.

Unless you're putting someone in danger, or are a hygiene risk (ie. please don't put your naked pucker or poonani on the seat), someone else's delicate constitutions regarding the human body should not be an excuse to bar you from a flight. End of story. *shakes her rhinestoned pasties in defiance*

I dont give a hoot about what other people wear , if you dont like it , look away , there is so much in the world to get worked up over , and its not what someone else is wearing , its ridicilous that they can ban you from a flight for that

The only reason I see to oppose this rule of a loose dress code for flying is because it will exclude people who can't afford to go out and buy new clothes on command. Not everyone can just drop $30 on an emergency pair of pants in the airport so they don't miss their flight (I know I sure couldn't).

Outside of consideration for those folks, I say shut it and follow the rules. You can't walk into a convenience store smoking, with bare feet, and your dog with you. If you're purchasing air travel, you have to do some things to receive that service: pay the cost of the ticket, have ID to board, not dress inappropriately, etc.

The real problem is ego. Just let it go and get on the plane, it's not a fashion show.

Not everything is worth a tantrum.

Personally - Talking from a Jedi like perspective. I feel it is our responsibility to be good role models and set good examples. This not only applies to how we behave but also in how we dress. You should know better than to stand out and wear gaudy things in public places where you may or may not hurt or offend people. Be considerate. And most important of all. A Jedi is not above the laws and social rules. If you go to an airport and the captain or staff tells you to change - Don't argue and be a douche bag idiot. Go to the gorram restroom and change - If you are a Jedi, you will/should be prepared with a spare set of clothes for long travels anyways.

As an average citizen - Same thing. I am not above anyone else and my own ego is not important. I do not care to raise a fuss over something so stupid. Dress however you like in your own backyard and with friends - not in public as if your existance is the only one to bend a knee to.

Just my thoughts :)

As I am an accepting person I do not see the issue with this individual's short shorts. It is nothing worse than what one would encounter on the street on any given day. The fact that she is a woman or a burlesque dancer should have nothing to do with the situation. If people don't like the way she is dressed they simply have to look away. As a human being I accept others for what they are. If people were uncomfortable with her clothing choices it is their problem not hers. She is an adult and if that is how she feels comfortable flying then so be it. It is not as though any part of her genitals would be showing or causing any distraction. I have seen much shorter shorts and skirts.

":Safety" is a joke. They put all the potential bombs in with each other right next to lines of people at the airport.

edit: Sorry, that was off topic. No I would not make her change her shorts. People need to grow up.
