May the 4th be with you.

I was shocked to find that May the 4th isn't an "official" Jedi holiday, as it's been celebrated by my nerdy friends and I for several years now. Couldn't we make that happen somehow? It could be a fun lighthearted thing, like Groundhog Day or April Fools or Fat Tuesday.

It's basically just a reason to run around being silly with lightsabers and wish people well, but it could also be like an awareness day

How could i have missed this post , i am always in for any festivity , grand idea , the 4th of may it is can i celebrate with a samourai sword or does it HAVE to be a lightsaber ?

I'm gonna be the typical chips pisser here but to be honest, associating ourselves with gimmicks like May 4th, dressing up and lightsabers does far, far more harm than good. In most people's minds this is roleplay, not a serious thing.

Sorry. It's just the longer you spend with it, and the reactions to it, the further you want to push away from all this stuff. We have a perception image and we need to be mindful of that, it seems to me.

Bah, you party pooper! (But yeah... I've already started cringing when people quote from the movies.)

May the 4th only works for English speakers, and I think clergy cancelled all the feast days and replaced them with monthly themes. May 4 wasn't ever a totjo feast day although I think may 25 might have been one?

*Shrugs* When I hear 'May the 4th' I think of all the 501st members who get a chance to be recognized for all the hard work they do. Many many many of the 501st and similar groups get to come out in full gear at the events and despite all this hate for role players and movie quotes. 501st has done more good then the Jedi Community ever has, they deserve the spot light and a bit of attention.

I am not angry. Or grumpy. Or negativly in any condition as it were. In fact...I am in an empty and quite house for a change and quite happy!

The Jedi Community does as it does.... And all those nasty Role Players that dress up and goof around....well They do as they do. And a large portion of them....do a whole lot of good and deserves a good 'tip of the old cap' as it were. May the 4th has sort of become that. Thats all I am saying
