A former co-worker

A former co-worker was brutally murdered today . I didn't know him well, but everything I saw in him was that of a wonderful human being and a life worth celebrating.

If you all could hold his family and friends in your thoughts that would be appreciated. I'm attending a vigil tonight and I suspect there will be many tears.

A quick update: Jay's family and a ton of students, staff, and faculty attended the vigil. I got back just a little while ago.

As I suspected, not a dry eye from all in attendance. I learned from the people who shared memories of him that I was not the only one who was profoundly impacted by him in such a short amount of time. He lived his life with kindness and dedication. Classmates and people who worked with him on student organization projects said he encouraged them and empowered them to realize their own potential. I remember the atmosphere he brought to the office. Our office was always a bit of a party, but he took it to another level with positivity and a generous spirit.

He really did seem like a beautiful soul. It is a terrible loss
