Announcement regarding groups

As it would seem people have already started using groups to break totjo rules I will now disable group creation an will disband most of them.

Already, that didn't take long....Damn it we can never have nice things

Please post group guidelines for further reference.

We don't have group guidelines yet, which is why I let it be free for all at first... however it seems (some) people started forgetting about regular black-on-white totjo rules...

So for now, groups will have to be created by an administrator and will have to be more or less about gatherings/local groups...

Let's be honest a moment here, "the groups to unite us" were really in fact "the groups that were supplied with the software" I love how some people thought their group belonged in the "automotive" category...

I was thinking if it is possible to have a group for every rank (ex: Novice, Initiate, etc) and one for every teaching master and his/her apprentices... Think about it... it can be useful.

I honestly didn't know making groups was against the rules of TOTJO. In case you didn't know, I was the one who created the Star Wars fiction group. First of all, I want to clarify and say that I had no intention of breaking any rules. As mentioned, I didn't even know it was against the rules to make a group....

To be honest, I think it was a misunderstanding. You see, with all the new features added to the sites, one of them being groups, there appeared a button on the group page that allowed anyone to create a group. I'm sure many of us just thought this was another feature of TOTJO that we could play around with - much like all of the forum and chat toys that we have always had on this website.

I post this just to clarify and hopefully gain your understanding. Thank you!

creating groups isn't against the rules. There are no rules regarding group creation for the simple reason there was no possibility of having groups in the past...

The council still has to think about what we want to do with groups (if we do anything at all)

Group creation was enabled when I installed the software and left it there for you all to "play" with.

We have not taken any actions against anyone in particular, and I'm sure if you were the one we had concerns about, V-Tog would have told you Sean

The groups are disabled for now (except for a few which already had equivalents in the forum before and seemed potentially useful to me). Only one person I beleive broke the rules (it was in a private group) and all we're doing now is disable group creation until we figure out a policy for groups...

I believe MCSH has a good idea. Though it is more work it has potential to be very useful in the future. As long as people kept on top of things it would work nicely i think. :silly: Just my opinion.

maybe we should just get rid of all the sub boards that DIVIDE the forum and leave it a big mess too.

eh, the difference with the forum is most people select a category at random when creating a new thread anyway

There isn't psychological division within the site design?

both psychological division and site design are aspects of both. It's stupid to assign only one aspect to either groups of forum design.
