I have studied Taekwondo, ITF, WTF and Mu Duk Kwnan, for over 18 years and have developed a style on the premise of the Jedi, it contains both saber and open handed techniques; patters and velocities as well.
It is called JediKiDo, and everything taught is if a Jedi was to come to Earth and train.
I started training with a sword as the Jedi might, and then sat down wondering what types of techniques they would learn if for some reason they had not a lightsaber. So, as in any martial art, I deconstructed the Saber Techniques and came up with equivalent open handed techniques.

don’t get me wrong, I am in no way saying that I am the only one to have had done this but I did take the time to organize a standardized system for those who may wish to study an art based on the principles of the Jedi Way.

I have done amateur kick-boxing in the past, but the only "formal" martial art I have studied is escrima. I am largely self-taught, but escrima, and the other Filipino arts are very straight-forward compared to the more complex styles to be found elsewhere in Asia, so self-teaching is an option if you are committed. Escrima was a very "proletariat" thing for most of history, and was not subject to academic study until well into the 20th century. As such, no belts, degrees, or titles are awarded, and prestige comes from reputation and competence alone. I do not consider myself very good, but my ability qualified me for a job as a caning officer in Malaysia, as much of escrima is dedicated to using a rattan/rotan stick or cane.

Do not misunderstand, I understand the depth of the other schools of martial arts, and I do not consider escrima to be supreme, but its simplicity and practicality is what makes it an appealing choice.

Interesting...

Jedikido....

I am a 10 year practioner of MooDukKwon, and instructor under a 9th Dan GrandMaster....

Freaking love it!

I stepped down last September due to injury and some personal stuff... Hopefully, I can return soon... But, it keeps going...

Anyway, as we come from the same base martial art, I think your own style sounds interesting...

I hope it works out for you!!

:)

On walk-about...

Jedi ain't Saints....

I practiced Tae Kwon Do for a couple years when I was a teenager, and around the time I started Jedi training I discovered Jeet Kune Do. JKD has been more of a philosophy for me as I can't practice martial arts anymore, but I still find it incredibly useful.
