First off I feel Baton Feil hit the question dead on as to understand what your saying when you're ask "Are we all descendants from jerks" cuz you gotta understand the earliest ancestors and move up to fully grasp where you come from.
However i think its important to know that we didn't just pop out of the primordial puddle all jerk-a-fied, at least in the sense i think we are talking about. I will first point out that - A. Being a Jerk 'can' be a matter of perception, 'One woman's jerk, is a another woman's prince charming". Just wanted to get that out there because i wont be using that perspective at all lol.
B.Most humans in a natural state are humble loving creatures, i know everyone is different, but by nature we are compassionate beings, favoring love over hate in most cases. I know the opposite can also be true but for arguments sake, id like this to be present in your mind at all times.
C.Tribal humans, which still very much exist in the 10's of thousands, Have a varying system that we will refer to as 'Tribal Law'. Now Tribal Law isn't quite the same as our very own system, what i'll call- 'Commandment Laws'. Commandment Laws are placed down and once they are crossed there is no going back, a murderer will be labeled a murderer forever(aka jerk). Tribal Laws do not tell you that you cannot kill, they generally state that once you murder a human there are a set of consequences. Maybe 1 of them is redemption, the other can be exiled from the tribe, all the while there may be a bunch of tribes that glorifies murder to the point of celebrations! I don't feel Humans 'Naturally' want to be jerks, or to be labeled as such
_- Main point here is that both Our Culture and Tribal Culture consist of the same warm hearted(sometimes blood-thirsty) humans, the major thing separating us is sets of systems (Not only the judicial systems either).
I fully believe that systems are far more at fault as far as influence is concerned with being a jerk in our culture. I know Humans are responsible for the systems in place, but being trapped in a system that is seemingly almost by design aimed to create entire nations of jerks and the jerk a like....
The evolutionary value to the Modern version of our culture, i feel, would obviously state we are a weaker creature- as far as strength, size, 'guile', fertility- And has most certainly made 'climbing the evolutionary ladder' a matter of financial competition, rendering natural selection qualities useless, which has created an immense amount of 'class warfare' . Very consequently generating Generation after Generation of epic jerks hating other jerks who blame it all on the presidential jerk who is just working for the Financial-Competition-Winner-Jerk, who in all probability has a Jerk agenda to make more jerks outt've us.
To sum it up, yeah its kinda true to say we are all ancestors of jerks, but if your trying to figure out whats really to blame i'd say look at the evolution of the systems our mother culture has put in place-i.e. prisons,public schools,corrupt government- and then compare the amount of hate those systems has generated in order to make all those asshole jerk-a-fied ancestors we hail from!
