We all face challenges every day. But some are harder than others. What was your hardest challenge to face in life? How did you overcome it? And if you haven't yet, how do you plan to?

This is one of those topics that can get super personal really quickly...

To answer your question though, for me it was transitioning and becoming who I really was.

It seems simple enough but to do it I had to let go of everything, my family, my friends, my job, even my existing sense of self. I had to let go of all the baggage that I picked up going through reparative therapy and the sexual assaults and just. With all of it dragging me down, cementing me in my old life I couldn't shed that skin. I've been fortunate, I've come out the other side and while things are strained with my family, they still love me, I only lost two friends, and I didn't lose my job or my home but to do what I did I had to walk forward knowing they could all disappear.

I dont mean for this to be invasive, and if people feel this is invasive I apologize, and they don't have to put anything. I just thought that reading and sharing could bring people together and give more dimension to the people behind the profile.

Hmm, well I haven't gone through anything overly traumatic or overly challenging, but the way I'll handle any of life's downs in the future will be to just take it with a grain of salt. As my padre says, "I use to think that when I gave something up I'd never see it again. Now I know almost everything can be regained." Nothing is ever too late and with that thought comes hope.

That and your frame of mind dictates everything. Knowing that I have the power to control the way I react to experiences is very helpful...when all you have to blame is yourself then you tend to try to make the best of your situation. There is always a positive. My goal is to search for and find it.

I don't think anyone has ever asked me that before... I wouldn't even know where to begin. Looking back, some things that seemed Herculean at the time now seem trivial. What are you looking for? Close encounters with death? Broken hearts? Poverty? Drugs?

All of the above. Its your decision. Whatever you feel made you grow the most and helped make you the person you are.

I'd say it was when I came to believe my former religion was based on lies and the 6 year struggle I went through in an attempt to find a new direction for my life.

How did I overcome it? Everything I tried never ultimately helped, but fortunately, the Force led me here and that ended my 6 year struggle in a single night back on Oct 31st, 2011.

Teaching was challenging. Imagine a room full of 35 12 year old rich spoiled boys... Now imagine going into that room all day every day...
