If someone was "playing me" and I didn't like it, I would try and stop it.

With that in mind, I'm going to do whatever I think is best based on what I know. If that means I'm "playing god" than god can stop me whenever he/she/it wants to.

If the universe and everything in it is a part of god and there is nothing outside it, how could god play himself?

"0laying God". Is that in reference to being the ultimate power and control over life and death?

Isn't that "following" God?

Maybe they're one in the same?

To take playing god in a different direction a lot of people find that creation is a way to reach or play god. Science, cooking, making a baby those could all be ways to play god.

Cooking and reproduction aren't really "overboard", in my opinion.[/quote]

 I was just using that as an example to your last question, "What does it mean to play god?" I don't think it's overboard either...well unless you're reproducing more children than you can handle, cooking up some meth (boom!), or spending so much time submerged in science that you forget to take care of yourself.

I believe that this is one of the truest things I have read here.

Many times, when people see something they don't agree with they start with the insane defense. I don’t mean they pretend to be crazy but rather they spout off crazy things! :P When it comes to death, it seems most people do not know how to deal with the strong emotional connection they have with the subject and begin with the irrational rationalization! Oh, you’re playing God! By that logic, so does almost every other creature in creation. And they will say, “Nuh-uh! You’re just being difficult and don’t want to look at it from my point of view!”

From killing for food, a mother protecting her offspring, revenge or just for fun… no matter what, you still took another’s life. And there are creatures all throughout the animal kingdom that kill for all those reasons.

You want to show me a glimpse into the divine? Show me creation! A woman carrying child is one of the most awesome and wonderful miracles I can imagine... the miracle of life.

Creation is one of life’s divine gifts and one thing that most closely emulates a “higher source.” And mankind’s ability to take creation to such extreme measures could be construed as evidence of his rightful place near the top of the evolutionary scale.

Some might say that. Some might say we are created in the image of and some may say that we carry a spark of the divine. And some may say, “God who? He doesn’t exist!?!?” :silly:

I have seen optimistic idealist and I have seen pessimistic pragmatics, but I have never seen an optimistic pragmatic! :P
Okay, I guess who ever said, “Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.” Could have been one! :P :pinch:

But none of that is really to the point! :woohoo:

I think that's none sense. If by killing, one would be playing role of god, then let's reconsider it after reading this story...

one of Pharaohs, used to kill people, and say I'm god. Your life is on my control. A guy asked him, how come? he said, "last day, one man was walking in street, I ordered my soldiers to kill him. therefore I have the control over death. The other day, a thief was supposed to be killed, and I blessed him, so I have control over life."

Days later, a half life fly, went to his nose, and said to him "If you have control over death, kill me, and free yourself. If you have control over life, give it to me, and free yourself." Pharaoh died that day.

I believe, killing is in no way playing god...

And that is the real question.
How could god play him/her/itself?

Well if your statement is correct, for god to experience different things god would need to cause a veil to be created to blind the different parts from realizing that they are all part of god. This would be called separation, or individualism. The goal then for the individual to learn that they are not separate but part of one whole. I tried to allude to this very idea in my This or That postings.
