The topic of forgiveness has been going around again and I really enjoyed this when I first read it, so I'm bumping it up so that, perhaps, it might help someone else as it did me :)

ty so much Reliah . . so beautiful

when a man experiences forgiveness from another man, two rivers flow
when a river sees a river, the river does not see a man, a crime, an offense
a river with a damn, cannot flow

Every man is a river. The man you spit upon is no longer here.

Very beautiful. Thanks for posting (and bumping), Reliah.

There was a line from a movie I watched the other night. "When you forgive, you love. And when you love, god's light shines on you"

So long and thanks for all the fish

Just read something which resonates with this:

"No one has ever been angry at another human being; we're only angry at our story of them." - Byron Katie

I had never read this before so thank you for posting. Definitely gave me something to meditate on. Learning how to forgive is a big part of everyones journey. I'm glad I've grasped the concept young, it defintely improves your life. Theres always room for improvement though!

Eknath Easwaran wrote: When you as a physicist what "ultimate reality" is like, he or she is likely to reply, "We can describe accurately, and that's enough. The laws are the reality." The Buddha does the same. He says, "This is the way the universe is. If you want to know more, go see for yourself."

This is not heady philosophy; it has some surprisingly practical implications. One is that we see life as we are. The world of our experience is partly of our own making, coloured and distorted by the past experiences that each person identifies with a personal ego. My relationship with you is not with you as you see yourself, but with you as I see you: a waxworks creation in my mind. As a result, two people can share the same house and literally live in different worlds.

- Easwaran, Eknath. The Dhammapada. Nilgiri Press, August 2012 (Introduction, p.90)

I was also reminded of this scene from Babylon 5:
