Jedi Culture. was created by
Hi guys!

I'm doing a community study for an anthropology study for my college, and I picked Jediism as my topic! I've been looking around for information and I've got a good chunk, but I thought a bit of direct knowledge would help immensely!

So if you guys can just tell me about the Jedi culture, that would be fantastic! Thanks a ton!

Hello Acto :)

We would love to help you how we can! I was wondering if you might be a bit more specific in your question. Culture can cover a lot of things so can you throw out some pointers regarding what areas of 'culture' you would like us to talk to you about? :)

If you would like I can offer myself for a 1 on 1 interview, either online or in real life if possible and that may better help you to understand and offer some more in depth insight :)

I think this may be a very difficult subject to research because there isn't much info out there. I would broaden the scope of your research to cover the Jedi community and then add a paragraph on the emerging culture. Some things I have noticed that are distinctly Jedi are:
1. The syncretistic approach
2. The rational use of myths for self-improvement and communicating ideas
3. Belief in the Force
4. Tolerance (distinct in US/UK culture but maybe not distinct in some other cultures). This tolerance includes GLBT, high ranking clergy of both sexes, highly varied ages, etc
5.

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.

Hey, Akkarin!

An interview in real life would be difficult as we probably are in two different continents (I'm in India)!

By 'culture', I mean, is there something that distinguishes a follower of the religion from anybody else? A very basic example is that here in India, it is tradition to touch our elder's feet as a show of respect. The 21 maxims of the Jedi are very helpful, where basically it talks about what the Jedis believe in and how they go about living their lives. So something more in-depth with regards to that.

Thanks again!
