Personally I would love to live in a world with no need of money...money leads to greed, greed leads to suffering...
OK so it sounds like you already know what you'd do since you did it. What makes you think you need money? There are food stamps and public housing and medicare/medicaid. You could even work illegally like millions of other americans and you wouldn't lose all those benefits plus you'd have cash for beer and smokes. Just sayin... you don't need money

I always thought that I was quite attached to money and what money brings, but I found that I was oddly happy living with my Dad, having my food paid for whilst unable to buy too much else...it gave me time to focus on what was really important, and Jediism and journeying on my own personal spiritual quest was more than enough to fill the financial void...
We need money for food, shelter, and all the other basics of life...but beyond that I've realised that it IS possible to be relatively content without it.
Now that I have SOME money, it's much more difficult not to feel "I could just do with a little more..." - whereas when I had none I wasn't thinking like that, I was thinking "life without money is actually not so bad..."
So now that you have a job you have some money but you have to pay for food and rent, live alone, and have no money rather than having no money and living with your dad.
I see...

I agree we all depend on one another and it's not possible to abandon your wife and child to go on an adventure. What if the adventure came to you? Suppose you and your dependants lost all your junk?Rickie wrote:

I'm personally indifferent to money as an object but it's pretty clear that money is NOT indifferent to you and I. I think we can all safely say that our lives are dictated by money.
Perhaps a good question for this thread would be:
What would you do if you lost all your junk? No money, no savings, no land, no car, no job, no unemployment insurance, etc. Just one backpack with a few days of clothes.
Personaly I'd love the adventure! Sadly, my wife would have to pay all the bills.

Then we would live off someone elses or some instituitions money. We would still need trade or someones elses trade to get the basics for survival.

You could of course be a leech on society and live off your family or government, but that doesnt solve the problem... All you do is pass on the nill to someone else.
I agree pooling resources. Living alone is a bad idea if you cant afford it and could instead live with family while chipping in at home. You can also do without luxuries.
But you still need to pull your weight. And until you find a better way, money is the we allocate resources we. need

I'm just thinking that you're happy living with your dad but you have to move out because it's a social status thing in the US. So you have to lower your happiness and standard of living to "fit in" to society...V-Tog wrote:
