Persian Myths

Well, in this topic, I want to translate Persian myths.

Thanks to Ferdosi (a poet) he transformed all of important Persian myths in poem, and it is available in Persian, I'll just translate what he said...

I'll start as Ferdosi did... thanking the creator.

In the name of creature of life and wisdom, That the best thing man can think is this.

Don't hurt your eyes, you can not see it.

Powerful is, who have knowledge, as old would be young with it.

Knowledge is best thing he gave us, and that's what can help us in both worlds.

Knowledge is the guide, it is eye of life. If you think, one can not move in right path without eye. Also that is the guard of Eye, Ear and mouth, that we get god and bad form them.

Myth of creation:

Yazdan (god) made everything from nothing, knowing this is power itself.

There is a deadly fire, which contain water, wind and soil. Then, slowly, it become colder, and this great dome was made from it, and stars went on their place. Plants grew from mountain and sea. Trees began to appear, and when animals came, they ate those plants. This is the end of begining, and no one knows this completly.

Then, human appear, and when he could walk, with good talking and using knowledge, he become ruler of animals.

You came here from both worlds, and were gifted with many skills.

Sun, moon:

From this red gem, the world is warm. This sun, is not from water, wind or smoke.

Moon, is the light in dark night, and you keep yourself away from it.

When 30 days come and go, the world will be dark with two lights.

The reason Ferdosi is writing this:

A friend(king), asked me to write this, so those who come after me, will know what happened before.

This is the first part of Ferdosi's book, I wil write the next part (Kingdome of Kiomars) soon.

Giomars (or Kiomars, I've heard both) Kingdom.

No one really knows who was the first person who seat on throne. Except those who heard it from their great, great, great, grand fathers. IT is said that Giomars was the first person who seat on throne.

When Sun went on first month of year, (March 21st) Giomars became king. So he made a place in mountain (he made cities of Damavand and Estakhr, these are near today Tehran), and gave his people food, clothes. He was the first person who thought people how to make clothes. He ruled 30 years and his people lived in peace. Farreh (something from God, that make you do good things) was with him. All animals, were accepting his orders.

Giomars had a son, named Siamak* who was like his father, beautiful, artist and a true leader. Giomars was happy for having son, but was scaring of loosing him.

No one on earth was their enemy, except Ahriman(Satan) and his sons. His sons were like wolfs, powerful, brave, and rude.

one of Ahriman's son, went to Giomars, and asked him to give his throne to Ahriman. He refused, so that son, planned on destroying his kingdom. At that time Sorush (an angel, who deliver god's message) came to Giomars, and informed him about Ahriman and his son's plan.

Death of Siamak

When Siamak heard about it, he became angry, gathered his army. it wasn't normal to wear Armor in wars that time, but he wore a tiger's dead body as armor, and went to war against Div (a creature, like human, bigger than human, who can change his appearance, and who live longer, and follow Ahriman). When they arrived, he went on war against that Div, one on one. That Div put him down, and killed him by biting his heart.

Giomars heard about it, the world become dark in his eyes, so he came down from throne, crying.

Army, wore dark blue clothes (that time, they wore that color on death of people) and with blood on their eyes, went to Giomars. All animals went there too...

After one year, Sorush came from sky, saying Mazda wants you to go and revenge your son, and kill that Div. So Giomars looked at sky, and said his best name, and cleaned his face. From that day, he didn't slept...

*Siamak: Some believe that Giomars's blood was dropped on soil, and from it an appeal tree came, which gave a son, named Siamak... While others believe, he was his normal son.
