Thanks for sharing that. I've played Journey and I recommend it for every person wondering what can a journey be in it's every meaning.
Since we're talking about video games, I'd also take a look at flOw and Flower from creators of Journey and a puzzle-platformer Braid.

I believe this is a very Joseph Campbell inspired game.
I've yet to play this game, and I don't own a PS3, but just watching that play-through (although I'm sure not as good as actually playing it) speaks volumes about its meaning and significance, and about what it means to be human and alive. I think it can also show how words are not necessary for communication in a companionship like this.
There are elements in this game that make me think of my own path as a Jedi, as, when you first play, you may meet another player who has played the game before and helps to guide you to the mountain, showing you how to do things and helping you find where things are. After you've completed the game, the next time you play, you can be a guide for other new players. The sentimental connection and appreciation you might develop for that guide companion, someone else can genuinely develop for you as you guide them through the experience. It makes me think of the bonds we here at TOTJO develop between master and apprentice, and even those outside of the apprenticeship within the community. [=

(To anyone reading the comments - PLEASE watch the videos before reading what others have written about them. In order to really understand the videos, I think you need to watch them without preconceptions or ideas as to what messages to look out for. You might perceive them in a totally different way to everyone else...but that is less likely to happen if you are subconsciously looking out for particular things...)
The emotions I went through watching this...just wow.
I spend so much of my spare time watching movies and TV programmes. At nearly 2 hours long in total, this was pretty much a movie in itself, and it was one of the most moving and thought-provoking things I have watched in a looong time.
Firstly there are the points that you (Proteus) touched on about companionship. All of the 7 companions he met looked identical and had very little means of expressing themselves, but you could really sense the bond he had with certain companions...particularly the first one. They just seemed to be perfectly in sync, to know what the other was thinking and what they needed...
I really felt that I had grown close with some of the companions, and was upset when he was parted from them...that you can empathise with a computer generated being with no facial expressions and no words is remarkable.
And the symbolism of the partnerships...the player starts off alone, confused and not really knowing what to do or where to go...they discover a guide and become dependant on them...they start to get braver, speed ahead, wander off, make mistakes and have to be gently pointed back in the right direction...they start to help out their guide at points and replenish the guides energy...by the time they get to the mountain, battling through the snow and wind, they're pretty much on an even footing, huddling together, using each other for motivation and moral support...after reawakening and flying up the last part of the mountain they no longer need the guide, enjoying their new-found independence...at the end they are reacquainted with the guide and walk into the light as true equals.
It really is the most perfect illustration of Apprenticeship.
Then there is the sense of questing...you know you are going to a mountain, but other than that you really have no clue as to why. Yet somehow you know that it's very important that you get there. For me there was a sense of a higher purpose...the character seemed destined to undertake the journey and find themselves along the way. Again, how they managed to create a feeling that the character started off naive and ignorant and ended up finding their true selves and becoming en enlightened being, without any form of words or dialogue being used, I have no idea.
And the game-world and scenery, and the sense of the smallness of the character and the improbability of them completing such a huge and difficult journey...it made me feel so...small. Like...wow...I am so insignificant compared to the size and beauty of the universe...but even the smallest person can be of vital importance.
There is so much more I could say...but I think I have already written more than anyone would care to read.
I don't have a PS3 so I can't play it. But I fully intend to watch it again in the future.

A very beautiful metaphorical contemplation of someone's play of Journey (and very inspiring to me personally as a parent and potentially one day as a Jedi Master.) [=
