Bi-part soul

Bi-part soul was created by
I had a discussion once with an English Professor over the subject of the Bi-part soul, that is the idea of a soul being split in two. It's not split personality, it's one consciousness which has two halves in the sense that the individual can be both aggressive and peaceful or hold rational and irrational views.
The idea has stuck with me and I've come to understand it as the idea that a person is born with a certain disposition and that when life drastically alters that (for example taking a naturally gentle person and making them violent) they create a bi-part soul as they still feel there natural self but act in another way.
I am curios if anyone knows the idea, or if anyone feels/knows someone who could be said to have a bi-part soul. I'm just curious as to their own experiences. Also would love to discuss the idea with people.

I'm not sure I agree that a soul can be split in half. However, I'd have to say I'm a textbook example of the personality that you described.
I won't get into the details, but I went through some traumatic experiences over the last 7 years, and it did in essence create two halves of my self that are completely opposite each other. I have the one side that is nice, calm, forgiving, loving, creative. And the other side that is full of hatred, anxiety, vengeful, selfish, destructive.
The side that I show tends to depend on the people around me. Places like here, with the Jedi, I'm always the nice guy because I'm surrounded by nice people. If, however, I'm in a hostile environment (even something as simple as getting into an argument) I become the hateful guy.
There you go, Lupine.

It seems to me personally that this, "English professor," has fallen for the trap of duality.
The good vs evil thinking.
But think of this.
You have a coin, it has two sides, one black, one white.
Is the black the same as the white?
Or is the black part of the white?
Or is the black and white one?
Why is the black not the white?
Is not the black and white the same coin though?
So what is the real difference between the black and white?
Simply because they are on different sides?
Or is it because they are of different colors.
In the same way your perceptions may differ from his perceptions.
Who is right, and who wrong in a discussion about morals?
Your right is not my right, nor is your wrong, my wrong.
We may agree some of the time, but we won't agree all of the time.
So my reply to is there a bi-part soul, is yes and no.
To those who wish to think that there is a bi-part soul, there is.
To those who wish to think that there is not a bi-part soul, there is not.
This is of course my opinion.
