Be Mindful of Actions - A sincere Word of Warning...
The video was posted everywhere online, and reporters across the nation wrote about this shocking discovery. They demonized her - calling her things like "disgraceful" and "shameful" or at least "embarrassing".
Through out the night, I watched people comment on these dramatic news articles, and those who commented said things like "Maya should be arrested", "she shames her father", etc.
It really saddened me too hear and see all of this happening to Maya. I don't think she deserved to be put under so much harshness and pressure. Yes, she did do something that was uncalled for a disrespectful: burning the sign of your political opponent. However, I don't think she deserved all of the harsh news articles and comments demeaning and demonizing her. I personally knew her in elementary school and she was decently nice.
I tried to contact her via Facebook, to give her a reassuring message, but it didn't show up. I assume it was taken away...
So, my message to you is please please PLEASE be careful/mindful of your actions. Just like Maya, I'd be VERY saddened to hear about any of my Jedi peers being put into this type of situation due to something small and stupid. I don't think any human being, let alone a young, college-bound girl, should have to go through so much public ridicule and pressure.
Also know that if this sort of thing happens to you, based on the situation, I will be here, at TOTJO, to comfort you - just like many of your other peers as well.
We are all supportive of each other, even only slightly, and we should be there to at least comfort each other if these things happen to us.
There will be enough media and heartless people out there to tear people apart. We shouldn't do that to each other.

In these days of "instant" everything, political campaigns evaporate as soon as elections are held. You friend was burning the "sign" (what does that mean anyway ?) in what is evidently a two-party election -- it can be safely conjectured that much worse is/will be done for your upcoming presidential elections. Scandales like that do not last long, and will be forgotten as quickly as all politics generally is.
It is only a momentary embarrassement ....
Politics as a whole is much more embarrassing.

"You friend was burning the "sign" (what does that mean anyway ?)"
To clarify, there was this advertising sign promoting mayoral candidate Ben Cayetano, and she got a lighter and set it on fire...
And what you say is true.

So fear not, my friend. We tend to think before we act.
