There was one section of this that I found to be interesting.

So here is why I think sex is taboo. Sex is taboo because it is an intimate act that two people have with each other. This intimacy makes it an uncomfortable subject of discussion between what would be termed normal sex. Then add into the discussion bi-sexuality and homo-sexuality and trans-sexuality and now you have moved into the realm of SIN.

This is probably the socially accepted stance of the majority of the world. But it is not a view that I share entirely. I would like to begin with a person’s sexual orientation is really their business. And it is no place of ours to judge another. Even the text where most of the quotes for the initial post were taken from states that we are not to pass judgment on others.

Next, I would say that sex is an activity. It is something done when two people have an attraction to each other that warrants a physical response. And if the party or parties are consensual it should be of no concern to others how they express their fondness’s.

Next, making love is an intimate expression of feelings, emotion, closeness, oneness, openness and commitment between two people. It is an expression that is unique between the two and will never be the same between any other two people.

Lastly, and this may be hard for many to accept. It is completely possible for two people to be in love and make love with each other and have sex with each other and other people. There is a difference between the different activities and depending on one’s relationship and understanding there abounds a great many possibilities.

But I feel that is another discussion…

I stand corrected on the side-topic of monogamy (which I originally meant as legal marriage), as not being religious-based, but rather based on things like roman-catholic church in history requiring it for reasons such as dealing with inheritance issues. It also goes way back many thousands of years ago to Turkey for similar reasons. Otherwise, monogamy was only an individual preference that not everyone shared, and still to this day is either avoided or limited by some. This, to me, seems like a very deep taboo since it seems far from any major custom.
