The world as I wish to see it

I'm sharing a link to a website called 'A low impact woodland home'. If you've ever seen the Lord of the Rings movies, you will have seen 'The Shire' where the Hobbits live. The scenes of the Shire are a very good representation of what I picture the world should look like. Giving the Earth back it's green beauty and life living within it, and not defacing it.

'A low impact woodland home' is the Shire coming into reality. Being built in Wales (UK), a family, their friends and random strangers who just stopped to help have started to build homes that fit into my idyllic view. Only taking about 4 months to build from naturally sourced materials, about £3000 and 1000-1500 man hours of work. It seems to be a very do-able reality.

I wouldn't have the slightest clue how to build something like that though. They're making out anyone can do it but they obviously had some idea of what they were doing.

I can't see the world going in that direction anytime in the near future...or even the distant future...but I'm just imagining a Jedi community, where we all live in those sorts of houses in close proximity...aaaaah, wishful thinking. :laugh:

It would be cool! If I have any free time in the coming months I may pop across the border and see what it's like in person. Maybe offer myself up to help build one.
From the description and pictures, the substructure is kind of like building the most awesome den ever. The child in me would have great fun building one :laugh:

This would be a fabulous community , it is an old idea reborn,from the viking dwellings on NFLD, the sawdies on the praries and I'm sure they must have roots (excuse the pun) in Europe as well.
With all the new fangled luxuries of solar panels, and glas windows, thermal heat/cooling..amazing!!

I'll add that into my vision. Ground and tree dwellings. Live like Ewoks, high in the trees. If some communities lived in the trees, then forest would be thriving all over the place and not being cut down. I like that idea!
