And I ask all of you, what is wrong with people?

I'm presuming that people in other countries were aware of this at the time it all came out?
It's been a massive scandal over here. I think most people are well aware that journalists are often not the most ethical of people. But the extent of their wrongdoing was flabbergasting (wow, I wonder if I've ever written that word before!?). The British public were, and continue to be, enraged by the whole thing. And annoyingly, as far as I'm aware, there haven't been any real repercussions for the Murdochs. The newspaper in question (News of the World) was shut down. And has now promptly been replaced with a new one, The Sun On Sunday - The Sun, of course, being their most profitable newspaper and the move to make it a 7-day paper having been in the works long before the scandal broke.
This seems to be a classic example of the way in which power corrupts. The Murdochs have a massive media empire. And as such, they are prepared to do whatever is necessary to retain and expand it. I find it very sad that people find ways to justify their own behaviour and lack of morals in cases like this.

Murdoch invented all of that popular garbage... And let's be honest, you get what you pay for. People feel outraged when their news paper says "outrage!"...the reality is they all wanted to know this stuff, which should be private and not in the news.... Easy for people to blame murdoch for YOUR shortcomings and perverted ways. I dislike murdoch for the political power he wields, when it comes to all that hacking business, the customers are to blame.
