Or maybe the windows 8 feet in total if you add in the part you painted an the clear part together.

You only painted the wall around the window, thereby leaving the window at 4x4 all the way around.

would it be possible that you have painted the window from the other side ?

there are two windows in the room ?

I had been in the idea of Br. Shaun here, where as you painted that area around the window, but the more I read it, you could have painted half the area of the window anywhere. The ceiling the floor a wherever you wanted, it doesn't say anything about actually painting the window itself.
