You say “false equivalency” and i say “allegory”.

Im pretty sure youre thinking of you and Kyrin when reading these posts. Im thinking of culture in general.

I've said this multiple times and this is bordering on harassment.

I WAS TALKING TO YOU. I was not talking to, nor thinking about, a person I was NOT talking to. Stop drawing this damn imaginary line between myself and Kyrin.

It serves as nothing more than to belittle my entire opinion and identity down to nothing.
I've told you this before. Last warning.

I countered your opinion logically but you seem to have missed it because i said Kyrin’s name to you and you freaked the *** out lol. Doesnt help your case about the “imaginary line”, does it? May as well scream “I AM NOT ANGRY, GOD DAMMIT!!

I have no interest in opinions when they're headed by belittlement.

And you're wrong. I am angry. I'm damn tired of this imagined connection to someone that hates my guts simply because of my choice in tm.

Is that why you two bicker all the time; Kyrin hates you because you chose Zenchi as your TM?

We're not discussing that here... Incredibly off topic.

The balance between equanimity and mindfulness is an interesting one, especially when trying to develop an experience of a persistent and functional 'luminous mind'. In some regards it requires a degree of trust that intention is good for people to make mistakes and grow without being marginalized, because its just that trust which is why abuse and the culture of 'harden up snowflake' is probably not appropriate for a religious space. That said, all monks should know how to fight when needed and that is only possible with training. Perhaps we need a dedicated verbal sparring area, so the rest can be gawd forbid I say safe, but rather calmer.

Ooo crime of passion. Kyrin was in fact feeling jealousy all this time!

Which is worse? Dismissing an idea because it comes from a distrusted person, or accepting an idea because it comes from a trusted person?

Well, and this is where I like "ideas not people" because I can look at something from someone I do not necessarily like and see the merits of it.

I think its harder to dismiss something I do like from a source I do trust, but that ends up being untrue.

It takes practice and I am yet learning

That's one of the funniest things I have ever read! Not only because it is incredibly inaccurate but also because I hate no one. I didnt even know who zenchi was before he started stalking me. Soon after he recruited his crew as well and the result was well... mostly ancient history. The jedi were the aggressors just like before when they went after the original remains of the Je'daii order, only this time the je'daii will not be so easily defeated.

I'm new, so what is a tm and Zenchi? I'm a little confused and would like some clarity for sake of curiosity if I may ask for it.

TM = Teaching Master, a Knight who is in the role of teaching an Apprentice.

Zenchi = cool guy. Lots of attitude. Awesome drawing skills.

The optimist expects it to change;
The realist adjusts the sails.

TM stands for Training Mentor. A knight that partners with an apprentice to teach them until knighthood. A zenchi was a knight here at one time. Although he was excommunicated for various offenses.

He's still a Knight, was never excommunicated, and is twice the Jedi any of us will he.

I think people normally talk about 'constructive' and 'deconstructive' input in regards to conversations, but I think these terms are best applied to processes rather then dialogue. Instead I think different measures work better, being 'limiting' versus 'freeing' are better ways to understand contributions to dialogue... in the talking about how to promote conversation.

So then the measure of openness being about creating an environment of participation, analogous perhaps to freeing being opening, and limiting being closing down.

Often someone can close down a dialogue by making assertions or judgements about things, and then even defend them rightly as constructive! But I think that is just reinforcing their own processing (where 'constructive' has more meaning) rather then actually being constructive in the context of furthering dialog. But I'm all for reductionist thought and analytical thinking, but doing it in a freeing way might be the ideal balance.

He was excommunicated, and there's no need to insult everyone else to prop him up arisaig.

Didn't insult anyone. However, he is not excommunicated, nor was the proposed excommunication carried out. He is still a Knight, still about, and still twice the jedi most can hope to be. It's not and insult, it's a fact.

In the end, Kyrin, you are wrong about this.
Accept it.

Well that thread is a good ol' fashioned dumpster fire. I'm surprised it still stands.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure this thread isn't being constructive anymore, which is a shame because it had a bloody good point to make that. Folks've definitely come back to personal drama when the point of the thread was to talk about not resorting to personal attacks when having a discussion of ideas.

You are, or at the very least, are trying to be,Jedi. Come on. If you can't be better than this, then there's some serious work to do.
