EMP drill this weekend

There is a video making the rounds of a woman claiming the US military is going to cause an emp this weekend for training. This is so misinformed it's laughable. What is happening this weekend is training for an EMP event which is a common sense and commonplace. If an actual EMP were to be set off all unshielded electronics would be fried but good. ( well possibly but you get the point ) There is no way they could afford the cost of such an event. What they are doing to training for continued communication and response to events like a solar flair spike or an atmospheric detonation of a nuclear device. I post this to clear up misinformation that might be, being spread due to this video and others like it.

I had to explain this to someone at the office today. It was an interesting conversation to say the least.

The word 'Electromagnetic' has something on it that makes people nervous. I think it's a mix of ignorance and paranoia, and fear it's a difficult emotion to fight rationally.
