How do you feel about professional table tennis?

How did you find this Temple?

Also, heads or tails?

Edan: I feel that I'd like to play table tennis for fun. Playing it professionally would take all the enjoyment out of it for me I believe... Still- maybe one day I'll join a table tennis social group, :side:

Arisaig: I found this temple through Alexandre Orion (who I met offline in France during an Erasmus year). I was more interested in Alex than the temple tbh and joined partly out of wishing to engage with some of the ideas we already chatted about during our tea breaks,

If you could trade lives with one person for an entire day who would it be and why?

Brick: Good question... Thanks for that. I'll be honest (this time ha) and say what immediately came to mind. Funnily enough I'm not convinced I understand why I chose like this- I actually think the what came before the why, and it was only after a 'what' that I came up with an idea as to why I would (or wouldn't) chose to be that person.

So firstly- Alex cam to mind, but which I then rejected because I'm not sure I would cope in different ways (at least returning to my own life). Secondly- Hitler, out of curiosity, I'd like to understand why he did what he did and what he knew about the world, ie. how did he justify his actions (it'd be really interesting to get into his mind I think). Thirdly- God- then I could just absorb everything and experience all that I wished- hell I could pretend to be every human, and know every story, play every hero and villain, live and die every life human or other... That'd be interesting too.

But from all this, I realise I've made assumptions such as I'll remember who I am during the experience and/or that I'll remember having been that person for a day. And then a more interesting question was would they have my life for a day- what would they do with it? Would it change their perspective on life (for better or worse?) In any case, it's a dangerous game even for a day. I don't know if and how I would cope with the experience.

So that's first thoughts but I think I would settle with my third reply and be God (heh) and hope on the return to my life I wouldn't go completely psychotic ha.

Why the ring for your avatar?

do you have an animal that you really relate with? Everyone makes jokes about how "this and that" are their spirit animals but it is not a joke, it is a tradition that goes back years and years and are sacred to those who practice it.....have you ever felt like you may have a spirit animal that represents you and your traits?

Edan: I couldn't quite remember at first why I chose the ring or circle as I like to think of it as my avatar. I thought it might be related to my vague idea of enso which I liked but then I realised (!) I changed my avatar after writing on Campbell (Episode 6: https://www.templeofthejediorder.org/forum/47-Journals/84015-fragmented-thoughts-of-vusuki-journal?start=40#278550)...

There's something important about the circle, and as I said it can be many different things to many different people. To me, I guess it reminds me of the Hero's journey. Thanks for the reminder!

Vladucard: Is your user name related to a Hellsing remix of dracula? Anyway, to answer your question, no I don't have an animal I really relate with. To me, (no disrepect intended) I believe spirit animals are a matter of faith and experience. You believe and experience it or experience it and then believe but it's more a matter of imagination and mind. Still, it has value and I do understand that spirit animals are seen as sacred, as a strengthening force and a major part of one's identity to some people (I'm just not one of them!).

I like to think sometimes of myself like water instead, changing to fit the circumstance but I do however recognise that I am an animal and that there is less of a clear distinction between 'I' and my environment than most people realise. Tbh, I probably know very little of spirit animals. The only place I might have heard of them is in the brief shamanistic new-year-3-day-holiday thing I had a couple of years ago, and not everyone there would have had a spirit animal for whatever reason (varied group!). It is! 'vladucard' is the nickname I gave Alucard back in the old Hellsing forums for when he returned to his Vlad III Dracula form (I coined it and then everyone started to use it! I was proud!). Old school Hellsing fans have names for each of his forms (Girlycard, doggycard, bondagcard.....". You don't hear that too much anymore since the old fandom seems to be dead, lol, it kinda sucks tbh.

No offense taken, btw! I like your perspective on it, and I like how you explained how you relate to water......I relate to fire a lot, myself!
