I feel like you're being sarcastic, Connor, but I really do miss the old layout. And color. Anything but default internet black white and blue. Lmao

I'm really an Earthbender (if you're an Avatar person).. so, really the browns and darker tones sit well with me.
But, yes... anything is better than this stark, B/W thing we have going on here now. It kind of feels sterile. I remember some backlash when this change was made?

Maybe we can all just learn to "let go" of appearance and enjoy the true value of an internet forum? :silly:

to start off yes I know the correct definition of both words are all most the same. However, the way that I view this is that a Church is any physical building in which you go to and worship with a group of others. A temple on the other hand can be anything you want it to be or anywhere that you want it to be. Some people choose to view areas of land that the like to frequent because that place holds special meaning to them. they go to this place and mediate or pray or just to be there and feel the energy or those places. So for those people those place are there temples there place of worship where they feel most comfortable. For me my temple is when I go out in the woods camping or hunting and can just be with myself and my own thoughts free from distraction.

I grew up as a reform Jew, and this is how they did it: the temple is the physical location, the synagogue is where regular religious practice and ceremonies were held, and the congregation was a formal part of the name of the group, like "congregation of (Hebrew word)" which would often just be shortened to the Hebrew word itself in regular conversations. The temple had a library, offices, classrooms, a kitchen and a dining hall in addition to two indoor synagogues and one outdoor synagogue (also bathrooms and a gift shop). While talking about it, we would say "I'm going to temple" in the same way people would say "I'm going to church". The word synagogue was very rarely used, unless someone was asking directions to the synagogue.
I do associate "church" with Christianity, as I've never heard it used for anything outside of Christianity (other than by Christians). "Temple" is used for many religions.
