Paying Attention was created by Leah Starspectre
I'm watching a documentary about early human development, as in how babies and toddlers develop.
And an interesting concept was brought up, It was that people say that toddlers are bad at paying attention, but researchers are realizing that really, they are too good at paying attention. They pay attention to everything around them. EVERYTHING.
That being said, those adults who are considered to be ADD, high energy, easily distracted, or fickle - could we say that they're reverting to that high-volume learning that babies have? Is forcing them to sit still and focus on one thing really a good idea?
Just a weird thought I had. What do you think?

Sure, why not? Beyond that, there are multiple ways of thought that are often stuck into a nice little box that allows a label to be attached to people and then they can be stacked up into whatever 'non-normal' pile they fit. Autism is a good example, as there are all kinds of ranges of ways of thinking that get labeled as such, but many of them are as different as night and day.
While it may be convenient to try to give an acronym to every person who doesn't absorb sensory input the same way, I believe that it's foolishness for psychology to attempt to label any thought patterns as "not normal." Perhaps ADD/ADHD is really just not zoning out sensory input that others find distracting, and that the real mistake is assuming that we -should- intentionally ignore the waves of the world around us.

I wanted to reply to this, but I saw a bunch of reddit articles I had to read.
(I'm kidding, I don't use Reddit)
Can you tell us the documentary, or some other sources?
The thought is interesting and all, but it's not a field I know much about, so me sitting in my comfy chair coming up with fabulous theories is near to useless

I could, but I'm not going to. I would rather hear about your fabulous theories!

All in good time
There's a process, ceremony to be followed if you will.
Ob1 has kicked it off nicely.
There's a few more steps to go
