David Graeber on a Fair Future Economy (RSA)

Since we had so much fun with Dr Elworthy's talk on Humanity, it seems like an apt follow-up to have a go with David Graeber. Again, I just find this interesting. I'm not trying to make any points or start a debate where we have to choose and defend sides to posed, evident questions, it is more about listening to what qualified people have to say and examining it critically. We can take "for" and "against" stances to anything, but what we need to consider is how do the observations (always somewhat incomplete) get us a little closer to an understanding of what is really going on, where to go from here and how (can) we participate rather than be mere subjects to it all ...

Hmmmm, yea plenty to disagree with, and some things to think about. He seems to mostly have a beef with people not having appropriate focus?

When things change we have to alter the paradigms we use to relate to them, his examples of sort being that bureaucracy changed from a commanding and limiting entity to an open yet exhausting entity. And how people are disconnected from their work to the extent they cannot find a focus on it for its own merits even if they try! Though that doesn't mean they are not doing something of value, just that its not valued by them... unless they are actually being unproductive LOL!
