Day 23
Apprehending the Supreme
Before Heaven and Earth existed
There was in nature a primordial essence,
Serene and unfathomable.
It was omnipresent and suffered no limitation.
I regard this essence as the supreme.
I do not know its name, but I call it Tao.
If forced to qualify it, I call it boundless.
Since it is boundless, I call it inconceivable.
Tao is supreme,
Heaven is supreme,
Earth is supreme.
The human being is supreme.
From the Tao Te Ching

Day 24
Skill
The good walker stirs up no dust.
The good speaker incurs no discussion.
The good reckoner needs no arithmetic.
The good keeper needs no bolts or bars.
The good binder needs no rope.
The wise one is a constant
And good helper of friends.
Rejecting nothing,
She is a good preserver of things;
Disdaining nothing,
Her intelligence is all-embracing.
Good people guide one another.
Those people who do not live as the teach
Or cherish their material —
Though they may be called wise
They are in a state of delusion.
From the Tao Te Ching
