For the past few days I've been getting bunches of emails asking me to verify my registration at various sites all over the world in multiple languages. The user names are random nonsense. It's not much of a bother to me since I get several hundred emails every day anyway and I'm used to scanning them and having the filters highlight likely important ones.
Not sure why someone would bother. It seems like it'd be much more trouble for them unless they're using some sort of automatic script or something.
It's my personal email. If it's supposed to be harassment I don't get it. If I don't respond to activate nothing further happens. It's a few more emails to look through but it's only wasting about a few minutes of my time for the day if that. Unless they have a program to automate this it seems like it's far more trouble for them than for me. It's introduced me to some interesting sites actually.
There are actually a few websites out there that you can submit someones email address and it will spam register them at a few hundred sites or more as a form of harassment. You do need to be careful though as some of those sites, aren't the real websites but clones of other websites, used for you to register and collect your personal information, to be used to try and retrieve you password or account information at other websites.
