Talking to the mirror was created by x57z12
There were a few thoughts I needed to sort out and since I usually do this by writing them down (forcing random thoughts into a coherent stream of words goes a long way to organizing them, at least that’s how it is for me) I wrote a small article. As it is already written, I might as well put it out here and see what your thoughts on this are.
Talking to the mirror
When I wish to see myself I need a mirror. Without I can see what my hands do and where my feet are landing, also I can observe certain parts of my body. However, I can’t see my face, or it’s expression, or my eyes. Basically I can see a meat puppet but not much of its’ personality or character. If I want that, I need some kind of reflective surface to see myself in. Sometimes what I see does not match what I think is there. A bit like hearing my voice on a recording, after all I know what my voice sounds like and it’s not that coming out of the box.
If anything, seeing my character is even more obscure than that. No mirror can accurately show me what that looks like and so it is in other people’s observations that I can see how my character reflects of them. Even if their ‘reflective surface’ is distorted, the image they throw back at me carries large parts of how I look objectively and represents exactly how I look to them subjectively. Sometimes that sucks. The hell is that thing reflected back at me? Surely there can’t be an ounce of truth to that, after all this is not how I am, not how I see myself. But that’s the thing, really. That’s how I look to them and since they didn’t make up their picture of me there have to be at least parts of me in that.
Which brings me to the point of the title. Telling them they are wrong pretty much means yelling at a mirror. Showing them they are wrong – now that’s how I can change the reflection. Ultimately I cannot decide how it is reflected, but I can decide what is presented to be reflected. After all, I wouldn’t tell a mirror to show my portrait, I would turn to face it straight.

Almost a little sermon, or a lecture... Nicely done...
I literally have used a mirror my whole life, and changed behavior by talking into it, to myself, looking in my own eyes, like I would that of another...
It can be a bit, 'spooky'? lol...
Thank you...
