EQ. abbreviation for. 1. ( Psychology) emotional quotient, a (notional) measure of a person's adequacy in such areas as self-awareness, empathy, and dealing sensitively with other people
The definition is a bit shallow but thats essentially it. Like IQ but for how you regulate your emotional responses, how aware of your own behaviour/beliefs etc you are, and how you relate to others. Its often called emotional intelligence too.
