^ The Europe article is quoted in here. Unfortunately I can't find a copy of the Details Magazine article for free (The Church of the Jedi by Ben Svetkey)

The Force is what holds atoms together.
The Force is what people call intuition.
The Force is what the bible calls "The Holy Spirit."
A Jedi is someone with a deep commitment to peace and understanding.
A Jedi may have fear, but it does not control them.
A Jedi may have anger, but it is just a trigger for forgiveness.
A Jedi may have compassion, but it doesn't (necessarily) stir them to action.
Action is a choice and the Jedi makes choices based on logic and reason.

I'm looking forward to hearing your presentation.

“The Force” is a loosely adapted term to explain a something which all cultures agree exist, but disagree on exactly what it is. As such, a Jedi dedicates themselves to understanding of all things within and through “the Force”. As a rule, no Jedi can set down in law a concrete definition of “the Force” for all to follow, only for themselves.

right now i would say that it is something of a blend of the ideas of prana, synchronicity, the existence side of the duality of existence and non existence, and the duality of order and chaos
basically, i see the universe/reality as being mostly impersonal, but somewhat interactive, (creative, procreative, destructive, suggestive, and in ways malleable, among other things)
it is utterly impersonal but it interacts with us personally, or, at a personal level, if that makes sense
that "Interactivity" is "the Force" to me
People are complicated.

MadHatter wrote: Thank you everyone for the help so far. If people could share their thoughts on the Force and bare bones idea of what a Jedi is that would be very helpful. I know there might be other threads on this but as people grow and develop I would like their most up to date response to these things.
What is Jediism
Jediism is the religion of those who regard their Jedi practice as a religious vocation. Those who do not regard their Jedi practice as a religious vocation are often known as Jedi Realists. Jediism is the religion of those who regard their Jedi practice as a religious vocation. Those who do not regard their Jedi practice as a religious vocation are often known as Jedi Realists. Common features of Jedi practice include an observance of a metaphysical entity called the Force, an adoption of the Code and exercising meditation.
What is TotJO
Temple of the Jedi Order (TotJO) is a legally recognised Jedi Church and ministry of Jediism. While our focus as an organisation is on Jedi religious practice, our doors are open to everyone and participation with us does not require Jedi faith.
We are a group of individuals coming together in a community to promote goodwill, understanding, compassion and serenity. We pursue a spiritual and human awareness so we may serve the world.
My personal view of the Force: If there were ten thousand objects in the world, the Force would not be the ten thousandth and first. The Force would be how those ten thousand objects relate to each other.
Consider:
We do not perceive the world as it really is, we perceive the world as it is evolutionarily advantageous to. What we think of as empty space between objects is not empty space, it is full space, but filled with an object with starkly different qualities (i.e. as a gas rather than a solid). Our mind is draws attention to this "gap" because it is useful when interacting with our surroundings.
Who we are is determined not by ourselves, but our environment. We breath oxygen, drink water and eat food because such things were available to us, if they were not we could not continue functioning. We did not create the language we speak, we did not choose where or what time we were born, who our parents were or what we were taught in our early years. We have only the options which are available to us, options we did not ultimately have a "choice" in.
We learn from others, similarly we teach others. If we behave in a particular way that action will reverberate into our surroundings and influence what happens elsewhere. In this way the sum of our actions, all that we do, does not stop at our bodies but extends outwards. In this way we are all connected.
I would not say the Force was an agent of change, but change is an intrinsic way in how objects relate to each other.
I would not say you can interact with the Force, but interaction is an intrinsic way in how objects relate to each other.
