Any Other Non-White Jedi Here?

Well, I must admit, I am white, and as someone said earlier, it's all about perception. If you, Mahogany, have experienced racism yourself, then who am I to argue? It must be awful to have someone hate you just for being you. Just remember that those are the bad apples. Those people do exist but they are by no means the majority. You are a unique individual with something to offer that no one else on earth has. Find your center and know that no one can take it away from you without your permission.

What I find sad is that people feel white's are somehow immune to slander and racisim.

I am white. (Plus a wide mix of other cultures mixed in) As is my daughter. She goes to a school dominated by the black skinned children of our town. She gets bullied alot by them. Since you know.....because she is white. Shes not allowed to sit at the black table after all. Because she is white. She is not allowed to talk to the black kids. Because she is white. We might have to transfer her out of a school and put her into a school of choice way out of our way and capabilities to protect her from these racist bullying she deals with.

Why don't the teachers do something about it?

Good question. We have to be violently protective parents to get disciplinary results.

It is great to seek out one's own culture. I just feel it should be for cultural reasons not the assumption that everyone is going to be like the Media Garbage Food.

this is why i said experiences and perceptions...depending upon where you are and what you experience society can be very different

when i was in the navy i was stationed over seas where whites were the minority...Philippians were the majority...and they treated anyone that wasn't pinoy like crap...white,black,mexican...we were the minorities and were treated as such..mocked, made to do the most menial unpleasant tasks, forced to follow every letter of rule while the pinoy picked and chose which rules they followed and which they ignored...

there are plenty of places in the world where whites would be killed just for being white...

until there is a global culture, there will always be racial problems....if everyone were to walk around with no skin at all there would be no way to know where one descended from...we'd all just be seen as human...even with our skin we are still just human....some just can't get past what their eyes tell them....

Non-white Jedi? Shoot, I'm often surprised to discover the sex of many of our members. LOL

Names are kind of a clue... sometimes. And Avatars can be, sometimes. But most of the time, I just see a name for the person and they are a sexless, colorless, whateverless... blank canvas.

And I try to let everyone be that blank canvass when I first meet them. And let what they say color that portrait. Kind of a who they actually are portrait that looks blank but has depth. If that makes any sense at all.

Okay, I suggest things like this get moved to new threads, pretty please. This isn't a discussion on racism, the original poster was trying to find people of similar background.

I remember coming here and hoping sooo deep in my heart there would be other Dutch Jedi here , my heart jumped a beat when i saw that there were , we may be all one , but we sure like some folk around us who you can talk your own version of Dutch too , well what i am trying to say is that i hope so for you you can as many of them here who speak your version of Mahoganyhipson

On topic, they are not Temple members that I remember(I could be wrong) but I could point you to a few African American Jedi on facebook.

There are non-white here...

But, its not my business to 'tell their story'....

Should they want it known, they will make it known...

My skin is gold does that count as non white? My heart is Jedi so that would make me a golden Jedi?
