I suspect it would have been the same whatever side had won.

Something I abhor however is some of the abuse that some of both sides(!) are giving out.
I didn't tell anyone beforehand how I was going to vote because of the crap I kept getting from both people who wanted to remain and those who wanted to leave.

True, they've been waiting to have another go at it. I believe it'll all depend on what the EU can offer them at this point. If Brussels says that they'll have to re-negotiate the entire EU package and that they'll have to re-build Hadrian's Wall (with England not being in the EU nor in Schengen, so there'll have to be some sort of border :-) in order to join, a referendum is poised to fail. If, on the other hand, the EU actually manages to be pragmatic for a change and lets Scotland join / remain under the UK's treaties and some deal can be found about the border issue, I could see this pass.

Technically Hadrian's Wall is in England and not at the border, so you'd be giving Scotland more land! We'd have a kind of weird intra country no man's land that we'd fight over until it declares independence :P

What really surprises me is we had nearly no ''remain'' campaign around here. The only remain activity I saw is the government pamphlet thing in the post.... And why did Boris campaign for leave? He's more foreign(including turkish) than british, so are most londoners, and the city(traders) will be locked out of the european markets, meaning it will be collapsing soon enough.

Sounds like what they had between Hungary and Austria during the Cold War. Before you reached the actual border, there was this fairly large stretch of empty land that was created as some sort of buffer zone. Not sure what for, but it was quite eerie! I just mentioned Hadrian's Wall as it would be an irony of history if there had to be some sort of border fortification between the north and the south of the island again after so many centuries. This time to keep the wild tribes out of the EU, though :-)

Oh, he wasn't until fairly recently. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2016/02/21/boris-johnson-eu-brexit-supports_n_9286400.html

Why switch? Because he's a self-promoting goon who knew he'd be a big fish in the leave campaign, rather than small fry in remain alongside the party leaders etc. The cult of personality around Boris and his readiness to ditch his real opinions in search of a PR opportunity just handed him the premiership.

The impact of this on the EU and the UK is certainly the most pressing issue right now, but as an observer from 'across the pond', I can tell you that this is already having significant financial impact in the global economy. My 401k already took a hit and my company's stock alone dropped 3 points based on the news. Dow Jones is currently down almost 400.

I'm sure things will calm down eventually, but the short term ripple effect is one that is being felt in more than just Europe.

our time right now seems like the 1930-36 with the extreme parties getting power and rising, very similiar to NAZI rising and Mussolini, people already forget our own history? People forget why the EU was created? People forgot the two world wars? both begin with emigration, economic problems, xenophobia, if i open my history book it looks like its the present... People get shot by defending the union... what will happen tomorrow? will the SS nock on my door?
