Hello Everyone!

I will be hosting an IP Discussions tomorrow in the chat room. At 21:00 UTC

The format of this will be open on the entirety of the IP. So any questions about anything on the IP are fair game.

If you have any questions for any of the Knights in attendance they of course will be able to answer any of your questions.

See you tomorrow!

Here is the transcript from the session today.

(15:03:23) J_Roz: I'll get this started.....
(15:03:30) J_Roz: **************************************************************************************
(15:05:21) J_Roz: ****************Welcome to another IP Discussion, this is where we, the Knights and Leaders of the temple make ourselves available to answer questions about the Initiates Program. This is the base of training for a person to work on the path of the Jedi as defined by The Temple of the Jedi Order. **************************
(15:05:22) Trisskar: lol
(15:05:23) Proteus: :D
(15:06:52) J_Roz: This session is hosted by myself but is an Open Discussion so anything related to the IP is open for questions rather than just focusing on one thing. More of these discussions will continue as we can make them available so don't' worry if you miss one or have a question that cannot be answered. If you do have a question please email one of us and we can make sure it is addressed if you are not able to attend.
(15:07:12) Nimeru: any kind soul out there wanna start us off with a question?
(15:07:26) J_Roz: The Floor is open for questions.
(15:08:22) J_Roz: I don't bite and am vaccinated fully for your protection. ;)
(15:08:29) J_Roz: :D:D:D
(15:08:34) Trisskar snickers
(15:08:43) Nimeru: Twix
(15:09:36) J_Roz: wonders if she should have brought popcorn.....hmmmmm
(15:09:59) J_Roz: So everyone is all good with the IP?
(15:10:06) Nimeru: Master J Roz is a girl?! 8o8o8o
(15:10:08) MartaLina: maybee you should give them homework
(15:10:13) Temple Bot: Jenna has joined the chat.
(15:10:27) Jenna: Hey
(15:10:32) J_Roz: hello Jenna.
(15:10:41) Proteus: Welcome Jenna
(15:10:49) Nimeru: hey jenna
(15:10:52) J_Roz: We are having a discussion on the IP program. You are welcome to join us.
(15:11:06) Franzesque: A question yes :P how long it took for you all to complete the IP? ^_^
(15:11:19) Jenna: Uh...I haven't really started it yet.
(15:11:21) J_Roz: Ahhh!!! Thank you Franze!
(15:11:21) Nimeru: We just found out that j roz is a girl, who would have thought
(15:11:42) Akkarin: Having done the IP twice it was several months both times.
(15:11:42) Jenna: I wouldn't be able to contribute much to the convo
(15:11:43) Jamho_Thaber: About 7 months :)
(15:11:53) Proteus: I spent slightly over a complete year on it.
(15:12:00) Nimeru: Why so long?
(15:12:30) J_Roz: It took me four years to finish the IP. I had a lot of extenuating circumstances however. So comparison to me is not a great idea of how long it takes.
(15:12:58) J_Roz: Its Okay Jenna, stick around you might find some questions. ;)
(15:13:02) MartaLina: about 3 months Franz
(15:13:06) Proteus: Meat when cooked with patience, is cooked more thorough, and is more savory.
(15:13:16) Trisskar: I started 14 Oct 2014 16:45 - and ended 08 Apr 2015 13:38
(15:13:25) Franzesque: Like Nim said: why so long? Aren't there 10 lessons, 11 if you count the 0? Are they really that long/hard?
(15:13:34) Nimeru: i like burnt meat proteus
(15:13:57) Temple Bot: peace has joined the chat.
(15:14:02) MartaLina: you can take your time Franz as long as you want
(15:14:14) J_Roz: Hello Peace, welcome to the discussion.
(15:14:15) Jamho_Thaber: Well, the last one has, I think, 8 essays alone in it
(15:14:31) Nimeru: so a day or two for each essay
(15:14:33) Jamho_Thaber: and then there's real life that'll definitely get in the way at some point :P
(15:14:55) J_Roz: Patience is a valued thing here. Not everything should be blasted through in ten minutes.
(15:14:56) peace: it took me 6 months to finish the Ip
(15:15:02) Nimeru: dang!!
(15:15:19) MartaLina: there was a member who it took 4 years
(15:15:24) MartaLina: i think
(15:15:30) J_Roz: Yes Marta, that was me... ;)
(15:15:39) Jenna: liol
(15:15:41) Proteus: Many get the most out of the lessons when taking time to reflect on the material in one's day to day life
(15:15:46) MartaLina: ow ..ehehhe
(15:15:47) Jenna: Gah typo
(15:15:48) Temple Bot: DexterDan has joined the chat.
(15:15:51) peace: exactly. I tried to make sure that I covered everything as best as I could
(15:15:53) Jenna: **lol
(15:15:57) J_Roz: Hello Dexter, welcome to the discussion.
(15:15:58) DexterDan: hello
(15:16:03) Jenna: Hello, Dexter
(15:16:08) MartaLina: but i was not judging JRoZ just saying loll
(15:16:18) DexterDan: how is everybody?
(15:16:24) J_Roz: No worries. I smile about it now. I don't know if I still have the record.
(15:16:28) Proteus: We take long on it because what we learn here is not academic.
(15:16:31) Franzesque: Oh, cool! Yeah patience is really a good thing to have, right? Well, gotta get started then :P
(15:16:39) MartaLina: i think you do , its a good record ;)
(15:16:45) J_Roz: We are in the middle of an IP discussion Dexter. ;)
(15:16:55) DexterDan: sounds neat
(15:16:58) Temple Bot: Jenna has left the chat.
(15:17:01) Nimeru: those looonnggg essays look academic lol
(15:17:27) Akkarin: The IP is both difficult and incredibly easy. If you want to barrel through it then you can (and people have) but what is the point? The IP is intended to make you a better person, if you aren't being made a better person by doing the IP (ok maybe it's a bad IP) but it could be that you aren't taking on board what's been said and taking the time to adjust your life accordingly.
(15:17:45) Proteus: They are written with logic in mind yes, but there are no right answers.
(15:17:58) MartaLina: every body has his or hers own pace :) you cant judge someone by the time they take and dismiss it if they are more rapid or slower than others thats just wrong
(15:18:01) J_Roz: Thank you for that Akkarin.
(15:18:08) Proteus: It is more like a personal review of how it has affected you.
(15:18:19) peace: Thanks for that Akkarin
(15:18:30) J_Roz: Proteus is also right. There is no exact answers. The IP is about discovering you as a person.
(15:18:31) Franzesque: About the answers it's said before it, right? In the introduction, if I'm not mistaken..and about the whole life thing, that's really great :)
(15:18:32) Temple Bot: Petar_Uzunov has joined the chat.
(15:18:41) MartaLina: hi Petar
(15:18:47) DexterDan: hello
(15:18:55) J_Roz: Hello Petar, we are the middle of an IP discussion. Join us. ;)
(15:18:57) peace: hello Petar
(15:19:06) Franzesque: Hello Petar! ^_^
(15:19:35) MartaLina: what i learned from the IP is to look different at my life and to understand WHY i do stuff
(15:19:47) Franzesque: And..how did the IP affect your lifestyle? Or life in general, I guess. Kinda curious about it ^_^
(15:19:48) J_Roz: For me one of the most amazing things is that we all get something different out of the IP yet we share the experience. It provides for a common ground to build an apprenticeship on and later Knighthood. Its the foundation of everything here. Rushing through it benefits no one especially you.
(15:20:02) MartaLina: i learned why i wanted to be a Jedi , and i asked myself countless questions
(15:20:06) Adi: I think I said it yesterday, but like I said again, there's no right or wrong way to do the IP except insofar as what you get out of it. If you're getting nothing out of it, you might be doing it wrong. If you're getting something out of it, you're doing it "right"
(15:20:12) Temple Bot: ekr2187 has joined the chat.
(15:20:15) Nimeru: makes me wanna start the IP right now lol but my attention span is short
(15:20:44) Dechlain: That's okay, Nim. Do it one bite at a time, like eating an elephant.
(15:20:44) peace: bye everyone
(15:20:47) J_Roz: hello ekr2187 We are having an IP discussion, join us. ;)
(15:20:49) Temple Bot: peace has left the chat.
(15:20:50) MartaLina: Thank you Adi m i meant to say that when you finish IP quick does not mean you have not learnt anything
(15:20:52) Franzesque: Just sayin' nimeru, just the first chapter of the first lesson is quite deep indeed!
(15:21:16) MartaLina: i find the whole IP material deep Franz :)
(15:21:18) Franzesque: And fascinating,also
(15:21:27) Adi: The Bob Ross philosophy applies here - we don't make mistakes, we just have happy little accidents (or discoveries)
(15:21:39) Petar_Uzunov: Hello everyone!
(15:21:39) MartaLina: :favorite:
(15:22:02) J_Roz: Okay, How did the IP affect lifestyle? I felt like I was having a mirror held up to my face. I had to decide if the reflection was someone I liked, and if I didn't I needed to change that.
(15:22:20) MartaLina: i needed to change what i saw Roz
(15:22:30) MartaLina: i was doing the right thing for the wrong reasons
(15:22:40) J_Roz: Excellent Marta.
(15:23:21) MartaLina: i was goody two shoes always ready to help , working two jobs as a social worker yadda yadaa yadda
(15:23:30) Adi: Alan Watts is an interesting figure for me because he was an Episcopal priest who became a new age hippie. I'm a new age hippie who might become an Episcopal priest or deacon. :D His views are challenging for me since his attitude toward his past is not exactly glowing. But I would rather be challenged spiritually and intellectually than accommodated — challenges are the best way to grow
(15:23:35) MartaLina: i even think i am a little more selfish now loll
(15:23:50) Nimeru: until i took an arrow to the knee
(15:23:53) DexterDan: ha
(15:23:58) Nimeru: -marta
(15:24:01) Petar_Uzunov: I'll just move on to my PC 'cause I hate typing from my mobile... Will be back shortly. ;)
(15:24:03) Proteus: I learned a lot about how to interpret many experiences I have day to day, and so, how to respond to them.
(15:24:08) MartaLina: but my heart , head , soul are working better together now
(15:24:09) DexterDan: congratulations
(15:24:15) Proteus: And how to work with them
(15:24:34) Temple Bot: V-Tog has joined the chat.
(15:24:41) J_Roz: Hello V!
(15:24:47) MartaLina: hi V
(15:24:54) Jamho_Thaber: evening V :)
(15:25:06) Proteus: Hi V :)
(15:25:11) DexterDan: hello
(15:25:14) Dechlain: It forced me to look at a lot of my negative habits and come to terms with them. It made me ask the question "do I want this in my life?". Hi V!
(15:25:15) Franzesque: Evening! Vendetta :P
(15:25:27) V-Tog: Hello again...sorry to interrupt :)
(15:25:29) Nimeru: Donald Trump for president...jk jk
(15:25:35) J_Roz: That is great Dechlain ;)
(15:25:45) MartaLina: very good Dech ,it pulled you out of the bushes
(15:25:45) J_Roz: Lets stay on topic Nimeru. No politics right now
(15:25:47) Franzesque: So the IP gave you an insight on you life? That sounds great! :D
(15:25:55) Temple Bot: Petar_Uzunov has been logged out (Timeout).
(15:26:01) MartaLina: ow no J_Ros did
(15:26:05) Dechlain: Yes, I spent too much time in the bushes, Marta
(15:26:16) Adi: That intense self-examination, I think, is at the crux of my path. Not just examining myself, but examining my impact on other people
(15:26:18) Franzesque: *just a little Ot: Trump and clinton should definetly take the IP*
(15:26:33) DexterDan: haha
(15:26:35) Adi: And I think the IP has helped me do that, even though I only completed the first part of it
(15:26:38) J_Roz: *sigh
(15:26:39) MartaLina: lol
(15:26:44) Nimeru: they wouldnt get far
(15:26:51) MartaLina: yes Adi thats great
(15:27:00) J_Roz: Awesome Adi
(15:27:01) Adi: I have 20,000 (!) words of free-form writing in my IP journal under my belt
(15:27:05) MartaLina: I have a question Master J Roz
(15:27:12) J_Roz: Of course Marta
(15:27:18) Adi: The more one puts into it, the more one gets
(15:27:23) Franzesque: Gosh Adi!
(15:27:25) MartaLina: arent we supposed to be Jedi in the real world ?
(15:27:31) Franzesque: I guess that's right!
(15:27:33) DexterDan: I'll be going again soon, I hope everybody has a good night/day
(15:27:33) J_Roz: That is exactly right Adi
(15:27:35) Temple Bot: DexterDan has left the chat.
(15:27:57) J_Roz: Marta, your question is "Aren't we supposed to be Jedi in the real world?"
(15:28:01) Adi: Not everyone is a writer capable of writing pages upon pages like me
(15:28:04) MartaLina: yes
(15:28:13) J_Roz: Do you feel like you are not?
(15:28:20) Nimeru: It is better to say as much as possible in as few words as possible
(15:28:26) MartaLina: i feel that i am becoming one
(15:28:28) Adi: I recommend finding your niche, what speaks to you most, and finding overlaps between that and the IP
(15:28:31) Adi: I agree
(15:28:52) Temple Bot: homb-ray has joined the chat.
(15:28:57) J_Roz: So you feel like you are not there yet but you feel like you are starting to find the person you want to be?
(15:29:00) homb-ray: hi
(15:29:03) Franzesque: Sorry Marta, can't understand what you mean with your question D:
(15:29:05) Adi: In my academic writing I'm often too concise. But I don't hold my reflections to the same standard - I reflect to learn, and to reflect I must write, think, analyze, etc.
(15:29:07) MartaLina: i would hate to be a keyboard commando Jedi
(15:29:18) J_Roz: Hello hombray. We are in the middle of a IP discussion. Join us.
(15:29:31) Dechlain: keyboard commando Jedi...love it!
(15:29:47) MartaLina: How do you feel about Keyboard commando Jedi J_Roz?
(15:30:04) Franzesque: Adi i think that's what most people have to do :P
(15:30:20) Temple Bot: Petar_Uzunov has joined the chat.
(15:30:24) Nimeru: they are not powerful in the force if they do not practice offline
(15:30:32) Nimeru: a little insight from a newbie
(15:30:34) Franzesque: Keyboard commando jedi? What? A new android game?
(15:30:37) Adi: My two cents is something I said in another thread that was controversial: if your spirituality does not encompass your whole life, what good is it? Our lives are already informed by our physical health, our mental health, our emotional health and our social health. Why does our spiritual health get confined to the pews (if you're a traditional religious type) or the cushion?
(15:30:43) homb-ray: commando jedi i have visions of arnald swartz with a saber
(15:30:43) MartaLina: thats a good point Nimeru
(15:30:55) J_Roz: Marta and to everyone. We are not born Jedi, we don't have a magic temple that we are carted to when we are infants then trained in special ideals from the time we are tiny. We must create that for ourselves. That only comes from study, dedication and the desire to help yourself.
(15:31:09) Proteus: How can we not be jedi offline?
(15:31:14) MartaLina: Yes that is true J Roz
(15:31:26) Adi: If only clergy, churches and rituals are holy, then our spirituality is going to ultimately be empty beneath the surface. It has to be part of who we are at our core - our spirit!
(15:31:32) Proteus: We are human and experience a life journey either way
(15:31:44) Nimeru: by not practicing the doctrine
(15:31:50) Nimeru: that is how
(15:32:04) Franzesque: J_roz I have to admit..that would be very cool :P
(15:32:06) Proteus: The Doctrine is not prescriptive
(15:32:08) MartaLina: by preaching words but lacking action you mean Nimeru?
(15:32:16) Nimeru: yes
(15:32:42) Proteus: Maybe the action isn't yours to take
(15:32:55) Proteus: So you inspire it in others who can
(15:33:04) MartaLina: That assumption is ok but we have to consider each path , and it is not for us to judge others but i get your point Nimeru
(15:33:05) Franzesque: Well guys, gotta go! Have a beautiful night, and hope you all stay well! See you tomorrow, I guess <3
(15:33:24) Dechlain: Bye Franz MTFBWY
(15:33:25) MartaLina: Bye Franz , let me know if you need help ya ?
(15:33:42) Adi: Not all of us are well-placed to take action... but I would say most of us are. It doesn't need to be turning into a crazy zealot out in the streets. But it can be in our relationships with other people, how we go about our work, our lives, our habits. That is action, to me
(15:33:57) MartaLina: it is indeed
(15:34:13) Nimeru: that is what i meant adi
(15:34:14) Adi: Some of us have handicaps that limit us, and that's okay
(15:34:16) Franzesque: Adi i think it all depends on how much you take action, and how.
(15:34:23) MartaLina: wave to the neighbour who never leaves the house , maybe even offer your service
(15:34:23) Nimeru: Acting according to the jedi code offline
(15:34:26) Petar_Uzunov: Now, hi again. What is it all about? :P
(15:34:31) J_Roz: The IP introduces you to the concepts we at the Temple call Jediism. To some people this feels right, to some people it makes them uncomfortable, to some people it makes them angry. In the end it is about you and how you see yourself. This trial so to speak is to help you find your path. Some people are not ready to call themselves Jedi outside their computer screen. That comes with time and understanding our concepts.
(15:34:34) MartaLina: a Jedi is a many splendoured being loll
(15:34:46) J_Roz: Ok.......... I need to do something different here....
(15:34:55) J_Roz: I'm loosing the conversation...
(15:35:11) J_Roz: If you would like to speak please use the :important: button
(15:35:23) J_Roz: if you have a question please use the :help: button
(15:35:47) Adi: :important: <- like this?
(15:35:53) Temple Bot: Senan has joined the chat.
(15:35:57) J_Roz: yes adi
(15:36:08) MartaLina: :important:Hi Senan
(15:36:10) Proteus: Well were not necessarily losing it. The topic is part of the IP
(15:36:13) J_Roz: Hi Senan, we are in the middle of an IP Discussion. Join us.
(15:36:14) Adi: OK. May I? I just wanted to mention something Joseph Campbell said
(15:36:16) Petar_Uzunov: All right, I got the picture... have a good night, everyone! ;)
(15:36:25) J_Roz: I know I'm just having a hard time typing and reading. ;)
(15:36:47) Nimeru: go ahead Adi
(15:36:48) J_Roz: I want to make sure I get everyone's questions and thoughts addressed.
(15:36:59) Proteus: ohh, going too fast. Right.
(15:37:13) Temple Bot: Franzesque has been logged out (Timeout).
(15:37:14) J_Roz: Ok Adi first then Marta
(15:37:44) MartaLina: :important: i had no question i said hi to Senan
(15:37:49) Temple Bot: ekr2187 has been logged out (Timeout).
(15:37:56) J_Roz: Gotcha.
(15:37:59) J_Roz: Adi?
(15:38:17) Temple Bot: Petar_Uzunov has left the chat.
(15:38:40) Adi: Right. One of the most profound things in the IP for me was Joseph Campbell's argument that we are most alive when we are connected to other people in a positive way. I think this is the "action" at the heart of it. When I think of being a Jedi out in the world, I think of doing good in regards to other people, however that best manifests itself for each of us. We have to find our own way. But I think he's right on the money
(15:38:48) Temple Bot: Rosalyn_J has joined the chat.
(15:38:50) Temple Bot: homb-ray has been logged out (Timeout).
(15:39:06) J_Roz: That is an excellent observation Adi
(15:39:10) J_Roz: Hello Ros
(15:39:21) Rosalyn_J: Hiya Roz
(15:40:13) J_Roz: Marta had a question a bit back. Keyboard Warrior?
(15:40:39) J_Roz: Nope. I'm sorry Keyboard Commando..
(15:41:01) J_Roz: I'm not sure what you mean Marta, like someone who pushes a conversation?
(15:41:10) Nimeru: *Keyboard Commando Jedi
(15:41:20) MartaLina: ow i thought how you thought about them but it was answered a few times already Roz
(15:41:38) J_Roz: Gotcha. ;)O
(15:41:52) MartaLina: Jedi behind the computer, Jerk in real life sort of thing
(15:42:22) J_Roz: ;)
(15:42:24) J_Roz: Any other questions or observations about the IP?
(15:42:33) Rosalyn_J: Hmm no jedi i have met offline have been jerks
(15:42:35) J_Roz: We have had some good ones already
(15:43:22) Trisskar: 3 come to mind
(15:43:24) Proteus: :help:
(15:43:38) J_Roz: Go ahead Trisskar and then Proteus
(15:43:46) Trisskar: nope go ahead
(15:44:04) J_Roz: Ok Proteus
(15:44:22) Proteus: What is the most difficult part of the IP for anyone here who would like to answer.
(15:44:47) MartaLina: reading Watts
(15:44:48) Nimeru: think that depends on the person
(15:44:57) Proteus: Yes
(15:45:10) Proteus: That is addressed per person
(15:45:18) Trisskar: the one that only had an audio file....forget his crazy name XD
(15:45:28) MartaLina: Krishnamurti?
(15:45:33) Trisskar: yea
(15:45:47) Senan: The Field was tough for me. This was before Mindwalk was added as an alternative.
(15:45:51) MartaLina: i had to listen to that in episodes
(15:46:02) MartaLina: Yes Senan
(15:46:10) Dechlain: agreed, Senan
(15:46:13) Trisskar: audio is hard for me....I recall there was one with no text back up. With kids running about....audio is near impossible XD
(15:46:43) Temple Bot: Edan has joined the chat.
(15:46:50) MartaLina: hi Edan
(15:46:52) J_Roz: Hello Edan!
(15:47:04) Edan: Hello all
(15:47:15) Proteus: I have another question
(15:47:22) J_Roz: go ahead Proteus
(15:47:24) Proteus: To the room
(15:48:05) Proteus: How do you feel about the personal tools lesson, and what did you learn from it?
(15:48:33) J_Roz: ;)
(15:48:49) Edan: It was nothing new for me...
(15:49:11) Dechlain: Yeah, I'm with Edan there.
(15:49:22) MartaLina: nothing new here either
(15:49:28) Trisskar: ^
(15:49:44) Edan: I had already had a mentor before I came here, and had been on forums for several years, so I had already learnt them
(15:49:46) MartaLina: as a teacher i had that long time ago , was nice to look it over again
(15:49:55) J_Roz: I felt like it was a good reminder about keeping discussions healthy and conflict resolution peacefully but taking the time to really focus.
(15:50:44) Rosalyn_J: For me it was good, but not as a novice
(15:50:45) Edan: Everyone needs reminding about etiquette..
(15:50:50) Senan: I understand the point behind the lesson and it caused me to reflect on my behavior online, but I think some activities beyond just defining the terms and importance. I guess it was just a bit academic in nature without any push to demonstrate any of it in practice.
(15:51:10) Dechlain: Amen, Edan.
(15:51:13) Rosalyn_J: I only appreciated it as I got older
(15:51:47) Trisskar: ^ feels like something to learn during apprenticeship and through action, not essay
(15:51:55) Edan: Yes I agree with that...
(15:52:03) Edan: Didactics and semantics seem rather out of place in the IP
(15:52:13) Trisskar nods
(15:52:22) Trisskar: forced...was the word i was thinking
(15:52:23) Rosalyn_J: Well putting some thoughts to it would be beneficial
(15:52:28) MartaLina: nods too
(15:52:37) Rosalyn_J: Its the 7th? Lesson
(15:52:56) Temple Bot: Aqua has joined the chat.
(15:52:58) Senan: I know I would benefit from looking at some of my previous posts and determining whether etiquette was lacking...
(15:53:03) J_Roz: Being in the classroom I really feel its good where it is. I see a lot of problems with healthy discussions and conflict resolution.
(15:53:05) MartaLina: hi Aqua
(15:53:08) Rosalyn_J: So by that time one wouldve had a bit of time on the forums
(15:53:18) Aqua: Good evening :)
(15:53:50) Edan: Hello Aqua
(15:53:52) J_Roz: Hello Aqua, we are having an IP discussion. Join us. :)
(15:53:53) Rosalyn_J: Could reflect on the definitions by looking at your interavtions in the past. Onlin/offline
(15:53:54) Proteus: I ask in consideration to something my apprentice Loudzoo mentioned in the listening thread
(15:54:28) Proteus: About being learning skills with listening
(15:54:29) Rosalyn_J: Typing on phone
(15:54:41) Proteus: -being
(15:54:53) J_Roz: Interesting
(15:54:59) Trisskar: feels more like a disscussion to be had with your master during said sittuations...rather than, as you say....reflection
(15:55:34) Edan: 7CupsofTea is a great place to learn about listening
(15:55:38) Proteus: Unless one does not yet have a master
(15:56:05) J_Roz: A lot of folks these days do not have good communication skills at all.
(15:57:25) J_Roz: Excellent question Proteus.
(15:57:33) Proteus: A good lesson may not want to be restricted, but extended
(15:57:36) MartaLina: they think they are right and keep whining untill they get recognition , thats not communicating, even if they are right it dissapears in the background because others veel offended etc
(15:57:47) Temple Bot: Cabur_Senaar has joined the chat.
(15:57:55) MartaLina: Hi Cabur
(15:57:59) J_Roz: Hello Cabur ;)
(15:58:03) Edan: Dealing with the feeling of offense is one skill to learn
(15:58:08) Edan: HEllo Cabur
(15:58:19) Cabur_Senaar: Hi. Just here to listen to the end. DOn't mind me. Also, Hi, everybody.
(15:58:39) Senan: I often wonder if it was better back when we had to write our thoughts on paper and mail them to each other. Communication was less heated and more well thought out.
(15:58:41) MartaLina: owgod it is Edan, that is one thing !! knowing that feeling offended is a choice is another
(15:58:50) Senan: of course, it took FOREVER to have a conversation
(15:58:57) Aqua: Hello Cabur :)
(15:59:01) Temple Bot: Jamho_Thaber has been logged out (Timeout).
(15:59:06) Proteus: Would having more developed material on these matters do good within the personal tools section of the IP?
(15:59:56) MartaLina: you need a person to person aproach in these matters Proteus
(16:00:09) J_Roz: Another problem with communication is immediate expectation of response. People get mad if you don't instantly respond to an email/text/phone call. People have gotten used to instant feedback and when they do not hear back fast they get angry thinking something was wrong.
(16:00:14) Edan: I think perhaps a different format would be worth discussing if we keep it in
(16:00:26) MartaLina: why do you feel ignored, why do you feel offended , sad etc
(16:00:26) J_Roz: Proteus that would be interesting to explore
(16:00:43) Temple Bot: Aisling has joined the chat.
(16:01:06) MartaLina: YESSS Roz that is soo true , the instant gratification
(16:01:07) Trisskar: agreed with Martha. No amount of "This is how it should work" will change a person's natural behavior
(16:01:11) Edan: Brb... getting my cupcakes out the oven
(16:01:13) Proteus: well, there is lots of person to person interaction already
(16:01:18) J_Roz: Hello Aisling, we are having a discussion on the IP. Join us.
(16:01:19) Temple Bot: Rahziid has joined the chat.
(16:01:29) Trisskar: such things require communication and interaction that can guide them to seeing their faults
(16:01:32) Trisskar: and success
(16:01:38) Aisling: I'll sit and listen, sure. Hi, Roz.
(16:01:38) J_Roz: Hello Rahzidd, join our IP discussion.
(16:02:05) Rahziid: hi
(16:02:07) MartaLina: really Proteus so if a person keeps whining he gets a Knight so set him straight "? or how does that work
(16:02:23) Proteus: So I you don't feel it would do much good then?
(16:02:31) Rahziid: what ip discussion?
(16:02:46) Trisskar: hai (Correct)
(16:03:06) J_Roz: Rahziid we are having a discussion on the Initiate Program
(16:03:12) Trisskar: ...actually i think that means "yes..." (looks it up)
(16:03:21) Rahziid: oh kk I'm gonna start that tommorow
(16:03:41) MartaLina: i mean i am all against censorship , but immature behaviour should be discussed dont you think?
(16:03:46) Temple Bot: Ryder has joined the chat.
(16:04:05) J_Roz: Hello Ryder, we are having an IP discussion. Join us. ;)
(16:04:09) Aisling: Evening, Ryder.
(16:04:12) Proteus: Marta, that is not what I was getting at. Lol
(16:04:13) Ryder: Okay :)
(16:04:17) Ryder: Hi Aisling
(16:04:29) Temple Bot: jake_sato has joined the chat.
(16:04:34) MartaLina: :important:Sorry Pro misunderstood loll
(16:04:38) jake_sato: Greetings
(16:04:41) MartaLina: Jake !
(16:04:50) J_Roz: Hello Jake, we are having an IP dicussion. Join us.
(16:04:51) Aisling: Hey, Sato. They're talking about the initiate programme.
(16:04:55) Temple Bot: Avalonslight has joined the chat.
(16:04:56) Rahziid: ryder, I got my account back
(16:05:03) jake_sato: AH i c - very cool
(16:05:07) Aisling: Evening, Avalon.
(16:05:09) J_Roz: Hello Ava, join our IP discussion. ;)
(16:05:09) Proteus: If the topic is going to be taken that direction though, let's save it and continue talking about the IP
(16:05:12) Temple Bot: Avalonslight has left the channel.
(16:05:51) jake_sato: the IP i was to complete was a very useful tool - even having to complete it twice as the first time through was not thorough enough
(16:05:51) J_Roz: let us continue...
(16:06:20) Rahziid: what about the ip are ppl debating?
(16:06:38) Nimeru: Ryder, my telekinesis teacher, omg how are things?!
(16:06:39) J_Roz: We are not debating we are here to answer your questions about it.
(16:06:59) Aisling: Telekinesis... teacher?
(16:07:05) Nimeru: yeah
(16:07:13) J_Roz: We are working to make Knights and Teachers available to the temple for questions.
(16:07:15) Aisling: NVM, not opening that can of worms. *sits back; listens to IP talk*
(16:07:25) J_Roz: Right now lets stay on topic everyone.
(16:07:25) Nimeru: you could say master, but idk if its at that level yet
(16:07:36) Nimeru: oh sorry
(16:07:50) MartaLina: make Knights ROz?
(16:07:53) J_Roz: Not a problem
(16:08:00) J_Roz: Make Knights?
(16:08:01) Edan: I'm back
(16:08:06) Aisling: wb Edan.
(16:08:07) Temple Bot: Haynesy has joined the chat.
(16:08:09) J_Roz: ;)
(16:08:29) J_Roz: Hello Haynesy, join our IP discussion.
(16:09:06) Rahziid: I have a question: How long roughly do each of the essays have to be?
(16:09:07) J_Roz: So is there any other thoughts or ideas folks would like to talk about in regards to the IP? There is a lot of dense material covered in the program.
(16:09:18) J_Roz: Thank you for your question Rahziid
(16:09:54) J_Roz: That answer is dependent entirely on you. It can be as long or as short as you need it to be to convey your thoughts completely.
(16:10:12) Rahziid: how long roughly will it take?
(16:10:17) Temple Bot: Haynesy has been logged out (Timeout).
(16:10:39) Dechlain: :help:
(16:10:48) J_Roz: Usually a couple paragraphs are sufficient. If we review something and find your thoughts/ideas incomplete we will ask you to review it and finish those.
(16:11:04) J_Roz: The IP can take as much time as you need it to.
(16:11:07) Senan: :important:
(16:11:10) J_Roz: Go ahead Dechlain
(16:11:36) J_Roz: After Dechlain you can go Senan
(16:12:07) Dechlain: Thanks. So is the personal tools lesson meant to make people aware of their own behaviour and etiquette?
(16:12:45) Rahziid: ive gtg ill be back ltr guys
(16:12:47) J_Roz: Yes. Any other Knights want to weigh in on this topic?
(16:12:53) Aisling: ciao, Rahziid.
(16:13:08) J_Roz: MTFBWY Rahziid
(16:13:24) MartaLina: gtg too have a good lesson !
(16:13:35) Edan: When it comes to length my own personal measuring stick is around 400 words... that's not set in stone of course by anyone, but I tend to think if you've written less than that then you might not have written enough to convey enough of your own thoughts
(16:13:47) Temple Bot: MartaLina has left the chat.
(16:13:51) J_Roz: MTFBWY Marta, thank you for your responses!
(16:14:11) Edan: That depends of course on the lesson... The Book is obviously going to require more discussion than Didactics
(16:14:34) Temple Bot: Rahziid has been logged out (Timeout).
(16:15:30) J_Roz: Thank you Edan!
(16:15:43) J_Roz: Senan did you have something you wanted to say?
(16:16:25) Senan: Just a comment about how long the IP will take, but it looks like most people here have a pretty good idea.
(16:16:47) J_Roz: Ahh. Okay.
(16:16:56) Temple Bot: jake_sato has been logged out (Timeout).
(16:16:57) Temple Bot: Rosalyn_J has been logged out (Timeout).
(16:16:57) Temple Bot: Nimeru has been logged out (Timeout).
(16:17:10) Temple Bot: elizabeth has joined the chat.
(16:17:40) Senan: I've been asked how long it took me and when I say 'over two years' some people freak out. I have to explain that it isn't typical.
(16:17:55) J_Roz: ;)
(16:18:00) J_Roz: Four years was not either...
(16:18:21) J_Roz: Continuing, what do people struggle with? Did you have a favorite lesson? Something you just totally did not like?
(16:18:34) J_Roz: Intimidated to even start?
(16:18:58) Aisling: I struggle with personal ideological friction at several points, and a lack of interest or motivation in altering my ideology to accommodate it.
(16:19:20) Aisling: The odds of me taking the oath or performing the IP are radically low, even if I find other people's thoughts interesting to read.
(16:19:37) elizabeth: no.. sammys here in bed so would have to be here..pm?
(16:19:41) elizabeth: sorry
(16:20:03) Temple Bot: elizabeth has left the chat.
(16:20:12) J_Roz: That is interesting Aisling. So you have a hard time grasping concepts?
(16:20:20) Aisling: Not at all.
(16:20:28) Aisling: I have a hard time approving of concepts.
(16:20:42) J_Roz: Much better worded than mine. ;) Thanks
(16:20:50) Aisling: :)
(16:21:06) J_Roz: What concepts do you struggle with?
(16:21:10) Senan: Aisling, I disagreed with some of it too. I think that is okay. Just explain why in your answers. I totally disagreed with a bunch of The Field, for example.
(16:21:27) Edan: (Does anyone like the Field?)
(16:21:32) J_Roz: Yes, you are totally fine to disagree with things.
(16:21:33) Aisling: half a moment; phone
(16:21:34) Trisskar: no
(16:21:36) Dechlain: HAHAHAHA Edan
(16:21:40) Trisskar: I do not like the field XD
(16:21:51) J_Roz: No love loss here.
(16:22:14) Edan: I followed some of the references... they were not the scientific support the author made them out to be
(16:22:45) Edan: Sorry... I've distracted from Roz's question
(16:23:07) J_Roz: Not really Edan....its a concept not many of us liked. :D
(16:23:14) Temple Bot: Rahziid has joined the chat.
(16:23:45) J_Roz: If you do disagree with a concept/lesson say so, but be clear about why you didn't like it. It would not be sufficent to say Nope hated the field. Not doing it.
(16:24:06) Rahziid: what is the field?
(16:24:07) J_Roz: Say I didn't like The Field and these are my reasons.....
(16:24:26) J_Roz: It is one of the lessons in the IP Rahziid
(16:24:37) Rahziid: what does it consist of?
(16:24:41) Senan: To be fair, The Field did get me thinking about the material critically and actually thinking about why I disagreed with the author on some of it.
(16:24:43) Rahziid: why is it disliked?
(16:24:50) Aisling: (back; sorry for the wait.)
(16:25:03) J_Roz: Great Senan
(16:25:06) Temple Bot: V-Tog has been logged out (Timeout).
(16:25:06) Edan: It is pseudoscience Rahziid
(16:25:44) Rahziid: ??????????/
(16:26:13) Temple Bot: Nimeru has joined the chat.
(16:26:15) Trisskar: i do not feel it relates to my path of Jedi
(16:26:19) Trisskar: it is a personal choice
(16:26:20) Senan: The author tries to use quantum physics and other scientific theories to explain the supernatural
(16:26:24) Aisling: Anyway, the overall prescriptivism of the IP, along with aforementioned pseudoscientific components, and the frequent treatment of various moral concepts as absolute, objective, and universal - these are all things I flat-out can't get behind.
(16:26:25) Edan: Basically.. it sounds like science, but in fact it is opinion dressed to look like science
(16:26:34) J_Roz: The Field is a lesson that explores concepts that can be considered controversial.
(16:26:59) Rahziid: Ill skip that 1
(16:27:14) Aisling: On another level, it all simply entails vastly more personal disclosure than I approve of in myself, among strangers and minor acquaintances.
(16:27:32) Trisskar: ^ exactly
(16:27:59) Proteus: Nothing in the IP is prescriptive nor absolute. :)
(16:28:06) Aisling: There is also an intrinsic abrasiveness I experience at any implication of authority or presumptive authority.
(16:28:37) J_Roz: Aisling, I appreciate you honest answer.
(16:28:53) J_Roz: Rahziid when you get to that part of the IP you will have the choice between the Field and Mindwalk.
(16:29:09) Rahziid: Is mindwalk better?
(16:29:12) J_Roz: Why is that Aisling?
(16:29:20) Rahziid: or more favoured?
(16:29:27) Proteus: If anything, it is majorly subjective and perceptual toward consideration
(16:29:31) Aisling: The question is always there at the back of my mind: what qualifies these people to decide what is the appropriate teaching material? What qualifies this material to be used? What about these people merits my trust, my disclosure, and the investment of my time? They haven't proven themselves to -me- by any standards but their own, and those aren't my standards. Finally, what makes the process and its outcomes so worthy of my investment? What is the actual payoff, if I involve myself?
(16:29:37) J_Roz: You will have to judge for yourself Rahziid, either one is fine.
(16:30:04) Rahziid: you can be a Jedi ;)
(16:30:45) Proteus: The approach to them as everything listed above is what would make any of it objectionable
(16:30:49) Aisling: Ultimately, I have yet to convince myself that the benefit is proportional to the cost.
(16:31:05) Rahziid: Aisling why u here then?
(16:31:16) Cabur_Senaar: But how else can you find out but to jump in?
(16:31:22) J_Roz: Rahziid asked my question
(16:31:29) Aisling: Curiosity, boredom, and mild interest in social interaction in the chat with a few of the members.
(16:31:38) Temple Bot: Kit has joined the chat.
(16:31:49) Ryder: Hi Kit!
(16:32:04) J_Roz: Hello Kit, we are in the IP discussion at the moment. ;)
(16:32:07) Kit: Hi Rider :D
(16:32:14) Edan: The payoff is personal development.. the IP changes rank but that's not the purpose of it. I would suggest speaking to people... start conversations with knights, asking other novices what it's like for them. I can't prove to you my worth as a teacher unless you participate in some way.
(16:32:18) Kit: Hi Roz! I assumed with as many people as I saw in here :D
(16:32:19) Aisling: Cabur, that argument is inapplicable. How can you find out if dirt-biking is fun, until you risk a broken collarbone? I evaluate the cost/benefit ratio of a thing before I partake.
(16:32:48) Edan: But that said, you can do as much or as little here as you like. If you wanted to study something similar like Buddhist meditation skills, you'd still find support here from us
(16:32:54) Proteus: Apologies Aisling. Whether we do or agree with the IP or not should not entail our capacity to be here.
(16:32:56) Trisskar: luckily no broken bones in essays ;)
(16:33:13) Trisskar: Aisling. I disliked a very very large portion of the IP
(16:33:18) Aisling: You underestimate the value I place on my time and contemplation, Trisskar.
(16:33:21) Aisling: :)
(16:33:22) Trisskar: I am the black sheep here and got next to nothing out of it
(16:33:25) Trisskar: however
(16:33:31) Trisskar: I did get one thing ;)
(16:33:45) Trisskar: Participation. And a different perspective
(16:33:48) J_Roz: Many of us are professionals of some kind Aisling. I'm a College Professor. I help write and develop curriculum for education every week.
(16:34:26) Proteus: Also, it is perfectly okay if you do not agree or wish to do the IP.
(16:34:30) Aisling: I don't assert that you lack qualifications for a great many things.
(16:34:31) Trisskar: No risk save a couple hours per day :) Or half an hour....
(16:34:48) Dechlain: Personally I came here willingly and of my own accord. I knew I could take it or leave it, as can we all. I took it. And I'm glad.
(16:34:52) J_Roz: Proteus is right. You don't have to do it if you don't want to.
(16:34:54) Aisling: Qualification for one thing doesn't inherently allow qualification at another, though.
(16:35:11) Temple Bot: Nimeru has been logged out (Timeout).
(16:35:18) Edan: What is it that you are looking for exactly Aisling?
(16:35:45) Proteus: It is for those who do wish for their perspectives to be challenged and opened though.
(16:35:53) Aisling: Nothing in particular at this moment; I'm entirely satisfied with who I am and how my personality is developing.
(16:36:28) Cabur_Senaar: Then you're all set, I guess.
(16:36:30) Aisling: There was a phase in my life, more than a decade ago, when I would have cheerily agreed with anything in the IP, and complied with the programme and found it fun. I'm not that person now, though.
(16:36:30) J_Roz: I would agree with that, however every Knight here has been here for years. We are in this room right now because we believe in each one of you and want to help you. We wouldn't be dedicating our time to make this work, if we just thought it was a waste of time or only worth chat interaction.
(16:36:48) J_Roz: We would not be here
(16:37:05) Aisling: I don't doubt that it has ample value for each of you. I'm glad it has that value for you.
(16:37:25) Temple Bot: peace has joined the chat.
(16:37:29) Edan: It's not really about compliance... as it is a choice
(16:37:32) Aisling: For me, it feels like backtracking, and participation could never really be in good faith: if my responses are honest, they will also be adversarial. If they are pleasant, they are lies.
(16:37:37) Temple Bot: peace has left the chat.
(16:37:48) Edan: Why must honesty be adversarial?
(16:38:29) Senan: Adversarial isn't a bad thing if the debate can remain civil and beneficial to all involved.
(16:38:36) Aisling: I'm indicating that I have largely opposing attitudes and even contempt for most of the IP content, insofar as it would attempt to be applied to me personally.
(16:38:56) Aisling: And I know that several people put a lot of work into developing it,
(16:38:59) Rahziid: *sits quietly in corner not understanding the big words*
(16:39:16) Cabur_Senaar: What would you prefer to study?
(16:39:17) Edan: Contempt? If you feel that strongly and negatively towards something then I would suggest that means even more than you should address it head on... but then that's my personal thought
(16:39:19) Aisling: so it wouldn't be a kindness to direct that contempt at the material, even if it's my altogether earnest reaction.
(16:39:54) Aisling: Edan, I have every opportunity to address it head-on, but it would be socially maladaptive and alienating to the people around me.
(16:40:00) Rahziid: do or do not, there is no try
(16:40:16) Edan: Do you only read things you agree with?
(16:40:23) Aisling: It's far more conscientious to listen, tolerate, accommodate, but not necessarily participate.
(16:40:51) Aisling: On the contrary, I read anything I can get my hands on... but I avoid commenting in a disagreeable fashion unless there's something to gain from doing so.
(16:40:52) J_Roz: Well if you are content with that you are welcome here of course.
(16:41:10) Temple Bot: Avalonslight has joined the chat.
(16:41:12) Temple Bot: r3dleader has joined the chat.
(16:41:14) Senan: If your contempt is communicated thoughtfully, it may give the rest of us reason to revisit it and ask more questions. I don't want people to accommodate me. I want to be challenged.
(16:41:15) Temple Bot: Avalonslight has left the chat.
(16:42:02) Trisskar: nice thing about journals are....
(16:42:05) Trisskar: they are personal
(16:42:14) Trisskar: if people don't like your view
(16:42:19) Trisskar: they don't have to read it
(16:42:34) Trisskar: I for one would be interested, since it sounds like we are of similar mind ;)
(16:42:37) Aisling: Look... have you ever listened to a politician expressing their platform, or a professor conducting a lesson, or read a book by an unfamiliar author, and thought to yourself, "I understand exactly why they're saying these things, but they're 100% incompatible with everything I value" ? Have you ever had a friend who just loved a book or movie, and you couldn't stand it, but you weren't interested in hurting them over it? That's how this feels.
(16:42:53) Aisling: The other aspect is, the oath comes before the IP.
(16:42:55) Rahziid: lollop
(16:42:57) Aisling: I reject the oath, wholesale.
(16:43:00) Trisskar: not anymore
(16:43:06) Edan: Actually, the oath comes after it
(16:43:06) Aisling: No kidding?
(16:43:08) Trisskar: its after
(16:43:14) Aisling: In that case, I may yet.
(16:43:15) Trisskar: yea that got changed
(16:43:18) Temple Bot: r3dleader has been logged out (Timeout).
(16:43:18) Aisling: No promises, though.
(16:43:26) Temple Bot: Brick has joined the chat.
(16:43:30) Rahziid: aisling, u will be a jedi :)
(16:43:33) Aisling: The front page rhetoric of "take the oath and get started" is a bit misleading, then.
(16:43:34) Edan: The oath is being discussed anyway.. things may change by the time you get there
(16:43:38) Edan: (If you get there)
(16:43:40) Aisling: Rahziid, bugger off with that attitude. :)
(16:43:48) Rahziid: woah
(16:43:54) Aisling: I'll be Aisling.
(16:43:54) J_Roz: Easy now...
(16:43:57) Rahziid: I just said u will become a jedi
(16:44:05) Temple Bot: Cabur_Senaar has been logged out (Timeout).
(16:44:18) Trisskar: I get ya Aisling :) lets be nice though
(16:44:19) Aisling: You're suggesting that's my intention and interest, Rahziid. Quite the contrary.
(16:44:30) Brick: hi all
(16:44:34) Rahziid: Aisling I didn't suggest anything
(16:44:34) Aisling: I apologise for the coarseness of language and tone.
(16:44:36) Rahziid: XD
(16:44:39) Proteus: No, Aisling is right, he'll be Aisling.
(16:44:51) J_Roz: Hello Brick. We are having a IP discussion. Join us.
(16:44:52) Edan: Where's the text you're referring to Aisling? I can' see it on the home page
(16:44:53) Rahziid: I merely pointed out one reward of the IP
(16:44:56) Proteus: We don't convert anybody here
(16:45:11) Trisskar: Rahziid...One is jedi with or without the IP ;)
(16:45:26) Aisling: "New members
Introduce yourself, take the oath and start training!"
(16:45:37) Rahziid: Aisling, I find your lack of faith disturbing
(16:45:39) Aisling: front page of the forum, the header of New Members section.
(16:45:44) Edan: Ah ok
(16:45:46) J_Roz: Ok That is enough Rahziid.
(16:45:52) Edan: I will suggest that is changed
(16:45:57) Aisling: Rahziid, faith is intrinsically incompatible with me. Be disturbed, if that's how you insist on viewing the matter.
(16:46:06) Rahziid: Ehhh just doin quotes
(16:46:10) Rahziid: lollop
(16:46:11) Aisling: I'm sure.
(16:46:13) Ryder: Even worse, he was quoting from Star Wars.
(16:46:23) Rahziid: hows that worse?
(16:46:24) J_Roz: Lets get back to topic here.
(16:46:41) Senan: In my experience, I benefit greatly from the conversations I have with those who do not identify as "Jedi" I'm glad you're here Aisling. I can learn a lot from you.
(16:46:50) Proteus: Right, so, just some reminders
(16:46:55) Rahziid: ryyyyyyyyyyder
(16:46:59) Rahziid: answeor
(16:47:02) J_Roz: We have covered a lot so far.
(16:47:02) Ryder: ?
(16:47:31) Aisling: Thank you all for your efforts at encouragement; do know that I recognize the benevolence intended.
(16:47:31) Ryder: It's worse because it's immature.
(16:47:49) Rahziid: why is everyone so serious on here?
(16:48:00) Proteus: The IP is personal, perceptual, non-preecriptive, and not right or wrong, but a reflective mirror of the one doing it.
(16:48:12) Ryder: This is an IP discussion Rahziid.
(16:48:18) Rahziid: everyone is in a bad mood today lol
(16:48:22) Rahziid: :D
(16:48:28) Rahziid: tis Friday tho
(16:48:38) J_Roz: As soon as we are done with our discussion we can open the room back to regular chatroom
(16:49:03) J_Roz: Does anyone have any other thoughts/questions/ideas they would like to explore?
(16:49:08) Proteus: Many do agree with a lot in it but not because anyone must.
(16:49:29) Aisling: If "must" was attached to it, I never would have made an account.
(16:49:53) Ryder: Well, good thing it's not, right?
(16:49:58) Aisling: Just so.
(16:50:12) Proteus: :)
(16:50:27) Rahziid: B)
(16:50:35) Temple Bot: Avalonslight has joined the chat.
(16:50:37) Temple Bot: Avalonslight has left the channel.
(16:50:50) Rahziid: hello/bye avalon
(16:51:07) J_Roz: Last call.....anyone have anything.
(16:51:10) Aisling: I don't know the feasibility of this, but I think it would be interesting if TOTJO could partner with an accredited college of divinity,
(16:51:35) Aisling: incorporating each other's curriculum into a formalized free online course that would qualify as transferable credit at that school.
(16:51:46) Edan: accreditation has been discussed.. but it is a lot of work and will be a while before we can offer that
(16:51:54) J_Roz: That and it is costly....
(16:51:58) Edan: And that..
(16:52:00) Aisling: I'm glad to hear it's at least been discussed.
(16:52:18) Aisling: It would go a long way toward legitimising Jediism an related belief systems.
(16:52:37) Aisling: As well as toward legitimising your programmes for a wider audience, and your clergy.
(16:52:40) J_Roz: The problem with credits is there so many different systems that most online colleges now do not have credits that transfer.
(16:53:08) J_Roz: Our clergy are legally recognized in all 50 states and even internationally.
(16:53:14) Aisling: Yeah, it's likely to be tricky for the duration, but as more and more schools take their programmes online, this should get increasingly feasible.
(16:53:17) Adi: We probably need to figure ourselves out before we figure out how we're going to "legitimize" ourselves in the world. Until then, I think doing is good enough
(16:53:55) Ryder: Yeah, why "legitimize"? Jedi aren't typically ones to like to show off.
(16:54:05) Aisling: Rahziid, if you're going to be rude, share it with the group, please.
(16:54:16) J_Roz: ?
(16:54:18) Rahziid: didn't say anyting??????????????//
(16:54:28) Rahziid: I was talking to brick tho?
(16:54:34) Aisling: Ryder, legitimacy is less about showing off, and more about accessibility.
(16:54:52) Aisling: Something being viewed as relatively normative and legitimate is going to be reachable for a much wider audience than something seen as niche.
(16:55:14) Ryder: That seems mainly because Jedi is a term from Star Wars...
(16:55:20) Ryder: Not sure if we can ever change that.
(16:55:37) Adi: Our accessibility problems are, sadly, our own (see: "the unimportant thread"), and not the world's
(16:56:01) J_Roz: I think we have gotten to the point of closing this discussion. Anyone have anything they want to add about the IP?
(16:56:16) Adi: Oh, I didn't realize the IP stuff was going on still, sorry :C
(16:56:25) Brick: yeah, rahziid was talking to me, but nothing rude was said? not sure what else has been said elsewhere tho
(16:56:39) Rahziid: ...
(16:56:57) Rahziid: DM hes probably just joking lol
(16:57:01) Aisling: There was an inappropriate whisper, followed by one less appropriate after my public remark.
(16:57:16) Ryder: Proteus would be able to see.
(16:57:23) Rahziid: First one was meant 4 brick
(16:57:39) Rahziid: second was cus u started blabbing about my little mistake
(16:57:41) Aisling: Yeah, and the second was directed at me, and was entirely unnecessary.
(16:57:57) J_Roz: Knock it off.
(16:58:04) J_Roz: NOW.
(16:58:29) J_Roz: I'm closing this Discussion.
(16:58:39) Aisling: Thanks for taking the time, Roz.
(16:58:49) Senan: Thank you for hosting Roz
(16:58:54) Edan: Thanks Roz
(16:58:54) Brick: thanks Roz
(16:58:59) Senan: :-)
