Take care of each other. The world is full of awful things and to many, including myself, the Temple is a place we come to escape all of that and feel a union with like-minds. All any of us want is to feel connected, understood, and loved. Let this be the place that can happen. Let us be encouraging where the rest of the world mocks and discourages. Let us remember that our opinions and ideas are not more important than our brothers and sisters.

May the Force be with us all.

I was asked to credit the original publishing in the Mindfulness Bell #24 (Spring 1999) and note permission given by the Unified Buddhist Church. The full article can be accessed by the above link.

Acting is accurate, fast. Care for each other is essential. Not just teach the brain to think with our lessons, but go deep into the wounds of the heart. As you need me I'll always be here and often will go to you

I'm just seeing this, Reliah, and I am grateful for the post too.

At least some of us have at some point imagined ourselves doing the miraculous - levitating that foul ball to soar right over the fence, spontaneously curing a malady, popping money out of the air to clear our debts, or halting the damage to a burning building by a force of will. Yet could we do such things, there would still be no greater miracle than the sort you've shared here in this tale of the Buddha and Ananda.

As part of this community, I will do my best to offer support and care.

Thanks for the reminder -

Todd

Extremely important and beautiful, good timing with the Temple, the world, and personally. Thank you for posting this up.

I do wonder which story came first- the one where Christ said this very same thing ("Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40) or this story.

What would be more beautiful than to find that these stories arose without the influence of the other though? :)
