Personal Accountability - an appropriate focus

In regards to a recent complaint and the resulting din, I humbly put forth a section of our creed for consideration:

people seem much more concerned with being comfortable and closing down dialogue that might actually be important than they do in understanding where someone else is coming from and understanding how to resolve a situation properly

i didnt see a lot of understading or consolling coming my way

This is not about a specific incident or person but for anyone who might need to know.

If a Moderator takes an action that someone contests try and discuss it with the Moderator. If that does not work (including not getting an answer after 24 hours or if it's urgent then Appeal by PM to any Council Member. If that does not resolve the situation then give notice of Appeal to the Full Council.

we all agree my mistake was not waiting 24 hrs after seeing that my polite inquiry was being ignored

yes i am raising a fuss

yeah maybe i should have been more patient

but also maybe i do have a point and maybe it wouldnt kill people to acknowledge that too

It's no coincidence. You're part of everyone and if anyone needs to know something it's likely that they're not alone. You felt this was urgent. If I were you I almost certainly would too. You were welcome to PM me or any Member of The Council after 10 minutes since it was urgent in your view. You brought it up a little differently than by the standard procedure but that does not diminish the merits of your cause. Precedent matters.

I'm taking your Appeal. If you would please PM me your request with your statements and questions for the record then I'll either rule on it myself. (There would still be Appeal to The Full Council available.) Or, I'll bring the matter to the Full Council for a vote.

to be honest Br Jon there is no appeal - i just wanted to be acknowledged

i sent him a PM explaining my thoughts about closing the first thread and then i saw my comment was deleted in the other thread and he PM'd me to tell me to watch my mouth but when i sent him PMs asking about it he didnt respond - which he later admited was exactly what happened, and i posted the exact wording of my questions to him which i dont think was disrepectful how i worded them

i posted them in thread as if it was one PM but it was 2 - if that matters

anyway, i felt that it was the right thing to do to take a minute to talk to me about it, and really i just wanted to be treated as if my feelings and perspective was worth respect too - if i offended someone i regret that but i didnt know what was happening - i only knew thst my stuff was being locked and deleted

i dont know that there is anything to appeal here, maybe it could be considered among the mods that if you close a topic or delete a comment that its not unfair to explain to the poster why its being done?

but the way you are addressing me now actually makes me feel a lot better, really

As I said before , if you had respectfully asked a question instead of a multi para ranting PM ending in calling me a name, I would have respectfully answered. Instead, I thought I would watch a movie and let you chill out a bit, maybe reviewing what you wrote and rephrasing. Instead you repost the whole thing again, just because , then post a whole thread about it, then continue to complain here.

There is no witch hunt. Just doing my mod job. A post is flagged , I err on the side of caution and delete it usually. Nothing personal in the slightest.

So we're cool ? Can we please drop the whole thing please and preserve the dignity and peace befitting a Jedi Temple?

I would like to stand still minding about that for a small second.. Moderators on forums.. Neutral vision against friends when situation requires, and rights to use privileges because of the controlling aspect of the moderator. Being neutral to a friend, even neutral when you do not benefit from it, or when it creates a difficult social situation. That deserves all credit.

why did you say "thank you"?

are you just assuming that im going to say "yeah we're cool" because you appeal to dignity and peace?

if you want dignity and peace then you should answer someone who asks you a fair question

you went to watch a movie - ok well that was the wrong thing to do

what you should have done was spend five minutes of dialogue with me to prevent this from turning in to a fiasco

we would have done exactly what we're doing now, only it would have been less dramatic and over much more quickly

these were my exact words to you were

and next

these were fair questions under the circumstances but you keep talking as if they were some kind of insult

tzb actually said nigger and fag and those words are still there

you ignored me when i tried to talk to you AND THEN deleted the further comments i made in the thread AND THEN continued to ignore me

i didnt call you a dick until you acted like one

so no we are not cool just because you use the words "dignity" and "peace"

actually i really dont even care anymore - as far as im concerned we are not one way or another at all

but if dignity and peace are really so important to you why dont you try the words "i apologize" ?
