What benifits have you seen from your Jedi Training?

I am wondering what benefits others of the Temple have seen from their Jedi training and study. For me personally it has given me a great calm, better perspective, and a sense of discipline to further myself. Over all its improved my outlook and inward views and driven me to better both my body and mind.

A practical example of this was today when yet again my water went out at the apartment. My housing office has been nothing but trouble for the last several months and its seriously been aggravating. So I left the apartment ready to argue and rather mad. However as I got closer to the office something told me to stop and breath. So I took a moment to breath deeply while reading the Jedi Code I keep as my phones background. Having calmed myself I spoke to the assistant manager and got a credit for both my rent and likely utilities. In short calm got me far more then I am willing to bet anger would have.

Knowing that its helping me pause during such aggravation just proves to me that this path is one that will help me better myself and in time those around me. Now lets here your own stories of self improvement.

I did not notice how Jediism improved my life until I decided to stop it at one point. Then I realized how much of an ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE PERSON I was (I mean, the worst of humanity). I need Jediism to keep me a semi-decent person. hahaha. So, it really helps me keep in a healthy state of mind. It helps me to be selfless and open and empathetic (even when these things don't occur naturally within me). It helps me to learn every day and to eat right.

Nice to hear this kind of thing from you. Because when I said in the chat that I saw Jediism as a way to become a better person, to achieve more and to improve myself, there were several stone thrown at my direction, saying that I was wrong to think that way.

I used to follow Bushido, and I see Jediism as a modern approach to it, and one that actually has relevance to modern life. I also see the Jedi ideals and the Doctrine as something that, if you can follow closely, will make you a better person.

But several people disagreed with me, so thanks for your words.

The same people who say you shouldn't use Jediism to do X Y and Z are the same people who would love to use Jediism to control your life. lol. It's a ridiculous thing to say one shouldn't use Jediism to do X Y and Z. In fact, Jediism should be used to do EVERYTHING (at least to a Jedi). Our doctrine teaches us that we should use our Tenets and Virtues to make all of our decisions... It would be very weird to not use Jediism in an area of our lives.

I agree that Jediism is a modern Bushido. In fact, at my other site, IJRS, we have classes that teach the Warrior Spirit and they go hand in hand with this.

I guess the main thing people have a problem with is... what is "better"? And, right, you would need to develop specific things that you'd like to change. If you are constantly hurting people with your words, you can do better. It's as simple as that. of course, you'd need to form your values.

When I end the IP, I'll look after you.

But seriously, that's the thing. I have a core set of values, that just happen to go hand to hand with Jediism. I just used to have a hard time putting them in practice. And I see Jediism as a way to make it happen, to make myself the better person I know I can be. What's wrong with that?

For me, my brief study has put me back in touch with my Christian values, reconciling Christ's missing teachings with my views in the universe.

While the temple here is my family and I have gained much benefit from being a part of it, Jediism didn't better me. It was simply that I realized there was nothing wrong with me in the first place. Once I realized that, I stepped a bit closer to who I really am.

Jediism helps me to guide my own thoughts and it creates a inner flow that would be close to harmony. Jediism is not a training in my eyes, but it does share many similarities with it. It is a way of life with an aspect that I appreciate much in Jediism: forgiveness.

All ways well and good, Jediism is highly flexible and I think that it teaches to mind flexible as well. I am thankful for that too.

Each will be able to say something different, but for me, pretty much saved my life and my marriage. The jediism arrived in my life in what would be the worst phase of the last time in my life. I think if it were not so I would have flown. Calm, patience, I am learning to be a good teacher, I learned to be a better person and a better husband. Outside it has the friendships and the fantastic people I met here, but this is not part of the training, is only one bonus

It empowered my seemingly disparate interests by inviting and supporting their cohesion, but importantly - as a reflection of present self, instead of a duty to future self. It was a strange distinction but it recast my 'past' into something more useful and seemed to help my memory and cognition.
