How to Live Life was created by
I used to believe that life had no meaning and it was to live as it was to die. I realized that was only the grief in me talking.

I moved on to thinking that life was what you made of it, it was for enjoyment not emotional survival. This did not seem right as well.

I came to the conclusion that life is not for me to focus only on my happiness. Life is about doing whatever part I can to make sure instead of my happiness, that people who are less fortunate are just as happy as me.

Thanks for reading, this is the first time I have done something like this so let me know what you think.

I like it. What you reached I don't think is a "conclusion" the way, say, a logician would use the word, but it's a nice enough step to arrive at. Of course, all of the ideas you had in the past are perfectly compatible with the new one.
Whether you invest into the happiness of others or yourself, that investment is still a meaning if you choose to call it such and it is still one of your own making, and in any sense outside of or without this, one could say that life doesn't have any. If I had to guess I'd think you'll be changing your mind again some day, seeing how any point we arrive at with this question is ultimately emotional to some extent or another, and that is fine, too.
I'm glad you are at peace for now. Maybe try and remember that feeling, and maybe you can maintain it later on with any position you choose to take that day. Be ever vigilant, ever risking that there is still something to learn, some way to improve, something you are still not quite perfect about. Never catch yourself sitting on a pedistal of your own making, but rest assured that the rest of us are just as fallible as yourself and the only life that truly has not any meaning is that of those who cannot fail - the stagnant life.

I think that's great Jeff :) Though as Gisteron hinted at, don't ever come to conclusions. Truth and philosophy evolve.

As we age our philosophy on life changes and adapts to reflect our experiences and environment.

The best way to live life is to be true to yourself. For some this means living in the moment, and for others this means deep and strenuous meditation on the nature and supposed meaning of life and our purpose within it.

Neither path is better or more worthy of adherence than the other, neither will get you to a state of enlightenment any better than the other.

If you force yourself to live in a manner that does not reflect who you truly are, this is when misery and suffering come into you.

This conclusion is what saved my life. I succumbed to rampant depression and nihilism because life wasn't catering to me. Then I saw that everything I needed was already within and without me. I could choose happiness within myself, and seek a better world without by simply taking effort to help. The mantra I came away with was the mantra that brought me to Jediism.

"I need to make myself the strongest person I can be for the people and causes I serve. This manifests itself physically, mentally, and spiritually."

Of course, I agree with others on this thread that our philosophies change as they need to. While this has guided me well, I only view it as a stepping stone. Too many selfless individuals have become burnt out by their own desires to help the world. While it's good to expand our perspectives in being dogmatic, the key is always in the balance. Help others by helping yourself. Help yourself by helping others.
