Caffeine is a powerful drug. and people are addicted to it. we rely on it to the point that we can't function without it. That is horrible. And its legal.
It does have some benefits in small doses.
I read that caffeine has an 8 to 12 halflife in the body. If you drink it at 8am you will still be affected by it into the evening. That is powerful.
I suggest avoid coffee and drink tea instead.

I actually started reading up about addiction. It's fascinating subject. How some people are more likely to be addicted than others from different amounts. Which as a Coffee drinker myself and I drink strong coffee. (Air press) I have no addictive symptoms; drink up two 3 cups and I have no headaches if I don't drink it. Yet my colleague does.
But feel free to have a look at this video. Its interesting.
What is addiction?

I am am addicted coffee drinker. Totally get headaches by the afternoon if I don't have at least one cup.
For me though it's about those few minutes in the morning after all the chores are done to give myself five minutes. I watch the dogs play, cuddle with the cats and enjoy the morning before the rat race starts.
I could choose to quit, I could certainly switch to decaf. I just enjoy it, and now with my own honey from my bees it just "sweetens the pot" .
I used to be a cigarette smoker. I quit cold turkey for my husband. That was over ten years ago now. I don't regret it for a moment and I could do the same with coffee. I just like having my few minutes of peace in the morning when I get a chance.

I react very badly to caffeine. I used to have migraine, anxiety issues, sleep problems etc. - fortunately, my doctor made the correlation some 10 years back (did a full blood work on allergies etc. and found out that I lack some enzyme which will result in caffeine staying in the system way too long). I stopped (had about 5-10 cups a day before that) back then and got better pretty much instantly. I have small kids now which deprive me of sleep sometimes, so I do occasionally consume coffee again, and I immediately get the symptoms again - had to pop Ibuprofen almost every day since the switch to daylight saving time (which messed with the kids' internal clocks). I can deal with the caffeine-induced anxiety now as I know it's just from the caffeine flash, so I don't give into it, but I also get extremely irritable, which my wife just loves
Anyway, I love the taste of coffee, so I drink decaf on a regular basis - we even have a fully automatic coffee machine that has two grinders and will let me have freshly ground decaf (the instant stuff is awful). Took me forever to find decaf beans that don't contain any (or barely any) residual caffeine, though. Most kinds still have enough to be a problem for me.
That's my addiction story
I don't do drugs and never have, except for the occasional puff from my electronic pipe (the pipe version of an e-cigarette). I use liquid with the lowest possible amount of nicotine and don't use it more than perhaps once a month.
