Different cultures have different ways of reacting to life events. To promote unity between cultures is (in my mind) promoting an extermination of what makes each culture unique.
Tolerance can be promoted only to a certian point, when one group of people become belligerent and violent towards another, it is often necessary to respond with force in turn as diplomacy has already failed. Peace is a wonderful concept, but it depends on every single person doing their part not to fuel racial, social, or ethnic divides.

no this is not the beginning...the beginning happened long ago....even during the 1920's there were those that viewed islam as a murderous cult...heck, go back to biblical times, the jews, muslims, and christians were all at war with each other at one point or another....
hate is like a hydra, cut off one head and 2 spring up in its place. as long as there are multiple cultures there will always be resentment, which is a branch of hate. one person can change things for the better, or the worst...
there are only 2 ways to deal with a fire....douse it, or let it burn out....

Warning: Spoiler!

To be fair to the thread title though, islamophobia is part of the purpose of islamic terrorism to begin with. Terrorism specifically is intended to create fear in the population - that is what a phobia is, strong fear.
A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder, usually defined as a persistent fear of an object or situation in which the sufferer commits to great lengths in avoiding, typically disproportional to the actual danger posed, often being recognized as irrational.
The Daesh/IS group and other islamic terrorist groups are trying to create a fear of Islam because its an entirely natural reaction to have an increased level of concern and anxiety to the possibility of being confronted with a threat to ones life. It's why they target civilians in the way they do. The thinking is if they make people afraid it will make the strong fight back (which further divides and increases fear) and the weak submit. Sorry for the use of strong and weak there, but its all I could come up with at the time....
Anyway... what is being discussed is probably more about discrimination, in this case against muslims, a display of anger and hate, which is not something that is particularly helpful for anyone.... and often illegal just like any other form of manifest aggression and violence.
I remember a couple of years ago Ms Adder started wearing scarf's around her neck, and one of them was a direct ripoff of the PLO 'look'. I didn't say she looked like Yasser Arafat, but it did look like she stole his scarf!! That day she said as a result of finding that out she had actually noticed two Mid East guys looking at her strangely in the mall - or at least she felt that way. The thing is, they might have thought she was looking at them strangely (because of what I had told her)!!
I guess we all notice each other and make assumptions and program our behaviour based on stereotypes, so it is probably again natural to avoid something which might be associated with a threat - I don't think that is bad, in fact I think its smart - but it becomes irrational to manifest complex behaviour based only on a stereotype and then exert that delusion against those things disproportionality to their actual apparent nature.

This one
is not Islamiphobia but definitely Xenophobic.
This one
is at least partly Islamophobia.
What is the world coming to. I have talked to people at work about how you can't paint all Islamists as threats, but in their very next breath they are telling me that Trudeau should shut out all the refugees from Syria. It's a sad, confusing time we live in and I can only hope that the future brings some peace for generations to come. I will just continue to put love and positivity out into the Force, changing the world a little at a time.

well there should be a process in place to verify identity etc of immigrants/refugees. i agree not all muslims are extremists, however no country should just let everyone claiming to be a refugee without verification in. even if only 1 in 1000 is an extremist that's still risking the lives of innocents....given the record keeping capabilities of most of the middle east how that verification is done is beyond me....
maybe it's just the veteran in me (or the little kid that got abused and bullied) but i treat everyone as a potential threat until i can verify that they aren't....risk assessment....ever wonder why the armed forces restrain everyone when they do a rescue? it's for everyone's safety until verification can be done.....

You can not take the wood of the fire
Becouse if you try you will get burned,
Getting burned is the result of a selfless act. Who is willing to take the first hit? No good dead goes unpunished.
what we must do is to extinguish the fire, by pouring water on it
How? Love in the face of unrestrained aggression? Good luck.
How?
As i said, love feeds peace, and if we deal with the core of the problem we can maybe once and for all extinguish the fire.
And let life be as a river.. But there will always come some dirt in the way and stop the river from flowing freely, and then we need to remove it

True but who will be first in an escalation situation of spontaneous combustion of act and knee jerk reaction?

The key, I think, is to stop adding wood to the fire, and allow the fire to consume the fuel and burn out.

I'm sorry to say that I'm getting kinda lost in all the metaphors. What needs to be done is that the Islamic people must be humanized to everyone with the slightest whisper of compassion. I admit that I myself do not know the full scope of isis' tyranny. The refugees as well as the victimized Islamists need to be interviewed. It must be made clear that isis is only a fraction of fanatics and do not reflect the Islamic faith.
It must be made known what Isis is doing to thier own people and why the refugees deserve a fair shot at a peaceful life.
