Cancer was created by
I've kept this a secret until now. In a few hours I am going to get my final internal intense radiation treatment and I will be 99% CURED of prostrate cancer. I will over the next few weeks inform friends and work associates. Why didn't I tell people sooner? I know everyone would have been supportive. I'm a private guy, and while people mean well, every time people were kind it reminded me I was sick. I needed to stay positively focused, not let this distract me and to direct my energies on day to day activities. I worked everyday, though low energy. Only two people knew I had cancer at work and immediate family knew was getting treatment. My personal activities were limited as wk drained me of most of my energy.

My ADD and fibromyalgia were further aggravated with fatigue, pain and mental strain. For five months my emotional endurance has been tested. I have four more months of hormone therapy but the worst physical part is over. During my many visits to the hospital I saw many people much worse than me, suffering physically and emotionally. It was painfull to see them. I know some were going to die no matter how much treatment they got.

I'm a lucky guy. My cancer is treatable. I'm going to live. I just have to start telingl people and get this off my chest.

If you encounter people with cancer think about what you say to them for support. I'm be asked to volunteer at the cancer center to meet and befriend new patients because of my positive attitude and strength of will. I look forward to sharing the burden with these people. :-)

Peace.

You're very brave :) I can totally understand why you didn't tell more people. It makes sense. I wish I could be that positive in the face of such a thing.

I'm glad you're going to be okay, Rickie.

I gave all of my care givers a smilie face stickers, everyone that came in contact with me!

I put one on either side of my surgical procedure site. You know down there..... near my prostrate gland.

It may have been one of the funniest things I have ever done in my life. :woohoo:

I wish I was awake when they lifted my gown! :)

Good night.

sounds like a prize winning gag.....

i deal with most things privately myself....it's only been in recent years that i've begun to let people into my middle circles...there are still a great many things i don't share with anyone....it's simply because growing up we were raised to never show weakness...showing weakness lead to being victimized in some way....now i treat injuries and illnesses as just another challenge to overcome...considering my combative nature it works well for me...when my stepdad got lung cancer i was one of the few that didn't look at him or treat him like a pariah...it was just another day of the week...and that was exactly what he needed...
