So I know there is an irony for using stating that the Sith Creed helps me in a Jedi Temple but I have actually been using it as a personal mantra for a while. But probably not in the way people expect.
I am a neurominority...being that I have psychoemotional issues. I live my life trying to figure out how to control my emotions and be better. It's part of the reason I'm here.
A lot of people here the sith creed and hear power being power over people.
When I hear the sith creed though, I see power, but more power over my inner demons, not on other people.
You live with emotional issues, you want to control them. But it is difficult. And idk, I break down the creed a bit differently.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion...this means that peace, being living without my issues, is not an option. The passion is accepting who you are.
Through passion, I gain strength...by accepting me, I gain strength to fight my inner demons
Through strength, I gain power...power over my inner demons
Through power, I gain victory...over my inner demons
Through victory, my chains are broken...I am no longer a slave to that negativity
I realized this interpretation can assist in almost all negative situations. I use it, and it is to great effect.
The dark side is all about power over others. But there's also power to control yourself. That is important. We must will ourselves to be better people, and sometimes our emotions take over, the dark side tempts us, and in that very moment, we need POWER...power to control OURSELVES.
Idk if anyone has any contradictory thoughts, but I find this to be very helpful. Also please let me know if such mantra is disconcerting to the Temple or to the underlying goals of the Church.
Idk, thoughts.

What is power?
Do you see yourself understanding, accepting and learning the causes of your 'inner demons' through this use of power? If you're not dealing with the underlying causes of your negative issues, control only really means you're putting the problems off for another day.

Power was the reason I was attracted to the Sith path, but it's not what has kept me there amost two decades.
The code speaks to me far more simplisticly.
Of course, I wasn't consumed by "inner demons" either. Nor was I an emotional wreck.
Probably not the best path for the ill adjusted to go down, but then, I wouldn't recommend any path for someone ill adjusted.

I think we'd be less concerned about the label which works best for you, and more interested in what it means to you ie the things you do, not what you call it.
I have some stuff in my journal which I've called Sith, and no-one batted an eyelid at it (that I knew about). For me its about sacrifice, and in particular self sacrifice which I define as integral to passion and that is how/where it hooked into/connected with the Sith material out there. It was strictly an inner thing for me too.
In regards to the bifurcated concept of the Force, it depends on the individuals working definitions of Force, Light and Dark most primarily.... we all tend to have a slightly different view, but I guess its not the things which separate us which define us so much, but the things which bring us together!?

I think if you find it useful then use it
But I would say, that I am learning with emotions that its not always about trying to control them, rather accepting that I have these feelings, understanding why, and controlling my reaction to them.
Emotions will come and I personally can't control them. Trying to do so, or avoid, or deny them has caused me a lot more upset than accepting them when they do come up and then controlling my reactions to those emotions.
Being aware of them, listen to what they are saying but then take a step back and consider all perspectives not just the emotional AGhh one. Then act.
There are a lot of material that is helpful out there, Sith or Jedi, some you will use some you won't. It's your journey and only you can decide what helps you.

Check the code in the spoiler in my sig.....it's of my own making blending both the sith and jedi codes into one that works for me....it reconciles my past with my present, my darker self with my lighter self....

(looking around) The Sith code is very interesting and for some reason radiates more with me ( Im in the process of combining both codes, really I prefer a combo of both). Sith code to me is more offensive than defensive but Its only in my view the Jedi code in another coat of paint, words differ thats it, same meaning. Honestly, Both codes are decipherable by the user's prospect. "my chains are broken, the force shall set me free" and "there is no death, only the force", basically the same on how you think about it, symbols of the chains and death are the binders here, and both state no death and broken chains meaning in some way to ascend beyond, "the force shall set me free" and "there is only the force" , need I say more? Both send that energy out into the universe on last breath.

I think the Sith code is just an excuse to do whatever one feels like whenever they feel like it. It places the individual at the center of everything and makes it okay for them act however they please, guilt free. It is an easy, self centered path focused on what could be instead of what is.
But hey, good people, right?

In my experience yes, they have mostly been good people.
Every group has its morons.
The code actually does quite the opposite of letting one act however they would please guilt free.
The definition of passion, the core of the word originally is "To Suffer."
Whats easier, is being dismissive and disrespectful of another path based on the fact you clearly do not understand it, and have not had to walk it in any real length.

I might have worded it more softly, but I can't argue. Pardon me while I tangent.
I have misgivings when I see someone who is struggling badly (not talking about you in particular, Brainiac, just talking) embark on a spiritual path to the exclusion of practical self-care. That may include some form of therapy.
This is not to say that I think one must be 100% mentally healthy (what does that even look like?) in order to carve out a Path. Only that such work is rigorous and demands a certain amount of resiliency at the outset. In concert with responsible self-care, I think it can be a lovely thing.
When people start saying, “I went off my meds because the Force will take care of me,” that throws up a lot of red flags. It isn’t an all-or-nothing thing, and people will make the best decisions that they are able, but if you are not respecting yourself and the process then the results will be predictable enough. One hopes they will figure it out on their own pretty quickly.
With regard to the original post, if you find it helpful then do what you feel is best. Do not, however, lock yourself to it. Today’s solution may be tomorrow’s barrier.
