One of my favourite hobbies is watching documentaries (which probably sounds kind of lame to some
) but I have watched quite a few on YouTube (it's great sometimes to watch old ones and know stuff that the presenters don't because you've seen more up-to-date stuff lol) but anyway with the several Bible threads going on and the recent release of the Exodus film I thought I would post this I saw last week as it is very interesting:

The Documentary is uncovering the archaelogical evidence that supports, or doesn't support, the cultural history of the Jews as told in the Torah (first five books of the Bible).
The rough story spoiler:
I encourage those interested to watch it, and to suggest other documentaries that they like!

Warning: Spoiler!
The archaelogical evidence presented doesn't support the claims of the Torah (that might not be all the surprising), rather that the Israelites were likely the working-poor of the Canaanite civilisation which was in slow decay over many hundreds of years. As the civilisation began to collapse they moved into the hills but only used poor undecorated objects such as pottery.
The early Israelites were actually a series of hill communities that at some point encompassed a group of slaves who had escaped Egypt and encountered another group who's God was likely attributed as orchestrating their escape (and was later known as Yaweh). The story of the Exodus was actually more about the escape from general hardship from ruling classes to becoming a free society (rather than all of them literally escaping Egypt).
Kings David and Solomon were most probably real Kings though the extent of their Kingdom was much reduced than what is made out in the Bible.
