Hi Guys,

Though I don't think I have a particular connection to my name (Matthew) and feel that everyone is within their right to go by whatever name they choose, I would not change my name I guess out of respect for my parents. They have their reasons for choosing my name (just as I had for choosing my children's names) and up to me to make of it what I will.

So yes names are just the labels people know you buy and in that sense they define you, but you make that definition buy how you live your life.

Obviously there are exceptions to that like if your name is so absurd it'd be silly to keep it or following gender reassignment etc. But again, whatever name you choose you still make it your own so to speak :)

But to clarify, my online names have always been the main characters of my stories for anonymity reasons. I now know that isn't necessary here.
