The Jedi Golden Rule

I haven't studied all of these different religions in enough depth, but it seems doubtful that it is so clear cut. A lesson I added to the degree scheme is actually entitled "The Failure of the Golden Rule?" and highlights some questionable interpretations that can be drawn particularly from the Christian, Hindu, Islam versions listed in that picture.

The Judaism one looks really interesting. I'd have to spend more time thinking about it to see how it applies in any particular situation, but from a cursory glance it doesn't look quite so straightforward...

Though my favourite is perhaps the Native American one, I feel as though it is trying to capture the essence of the others, but without the drawbacks that can be identified particularly with the Christian/Hindu/Islam version. (These drawbacks I am not mentioning on purpose in case one reads the lesson )

Perhaps Jedi should not have a golden rule...it could prove quite limiting in such a dynamic path.

The ethic of reciprocity is the golden rule, and that line is supposed to point out to the negative form, (do NOT do what you would NOT appreciate)

I agree with this. As Jedi we follow our Doctrine, which covers the sayings in that picture and so much more. Our "Golden Rule" is:

What "Jedi Believe"
The Three Tenets
The Code
The Creed
The 16 Teachings
The 21 Maxims

Jediism cannot be simplied in one short "Golden Rule".

It cannot be simplified? Hmm, well, Einstein said that if you cannot explain something simply, you dont understand it well enough.

Then there is also Bruce Lees quote on stripping away the inessential, so the process should not become more complex, but more refined.

I have always thought that ones understanding of there path is represented in how simply they can explain it, and live it. It should not get more convoluted, but less so.

You make a valid point, Khaos. The question I ask though, if you over simplify something such as Jediism, aren't you taking away from what it truly is?

You can break it down to the essentials, but how would you put that into words that really explain what it means to be Jedi?
