Why society is killing you, your spirit, and everything you were ment to be.

Great post Kohadre, made my day. Yes it's all true, but yes there is a flip side. I came to the same realizations when I was in middle school, it definitely played a role in ostracizing myself from society. It was through my negative experiences and perceptions that gave me the hard push out on my own which led me to create real friendships that have taken me to where I am today. After spending years in the mountains now though, and with the help of this place, I have learned to let go of it all except for the frequent cynicism and sarcasm.

Sometimes I feel things are the way they need to be for us to wake up to our humanity, and that when we find ourselves in situations such as yours with this thread, now since you have identified all of this, you understand it and can communicate it, you now have the ability to make choices based on the outcome you'd rather experience. It's a struggle no matter what, and the odds can be against us at times, but you know all those people "wasting" their lives, without care for themselves, others and the environment, they will have a rude awakening at some point. The flip side to this is that you can go learn about the obvious tinkering and social engineering that goes on by the ruling classes throughout history. While I can entertain the idea that everything is how it needs to be for us to wake up, I also realize that a lot of these problems did not occur naturally. This consumerism and materialism was pushed onto us, our cultures have been raped and our minds colonized. The rampant drug use and sex, were also pushed onto us. Keep the human mind entertained so you don't get in the way of those trying to shape this world they way they see fit, and the way for them to achieve a New World Order is to create disorder, to promote and encourage everything you wrote about so there is an excuse to bring in a totalitarian socialist global government where the same bloodlines of insane false-ego driven power freaks get to do whatever they want however they want and we live in a post-industrial neofeudalistic society, however we'll all see it as the ultimate utopia because we've been literally dumbed down chemically and psychologically. Check Llama Su's recent wall post with the video of "What highly conscious people talk about" hahahaha.

Now I don't know you, or what you've been through, but you have received your wake up call. What matters is how you respond to all of this, are you going to attack people or yourself because of all of this? Will you stand up on a soapbox and preach to them? Or will you find a means to respond constructively with compassion through your personal choices and those you make having to do with your family, the human race, the planet and universe? Like the Incubus song says, "Those left standing will make millions writing books on the way it should have been."

This post saddens me too.

Partially because it highlights some things that I think the world and society could do better on.

And sadly, because the post is filled with vicious judgement. There are a number of things in it that I could take issue with. But frankly, I dont see the point because this post wasnt made for any other reason than venting impotent rage at the world not being what you have decided it should be.

Recently there was a sermon on here about compassion and sympathy. I'm not sure whether I'm naturally going to be compassionate here or sympathetic but here we go...

Yeah. Life can suck for us. And life does suck. For a billion people out there, their lives are full of pain, often self-inflicted, either on an individual-level or on a species-level (humanity hurting itself). If we expand our lines of what's a part of us- indeed- we're messing up the planet, destroying other species and making the enviroment a more volatile area.

Now. Faced with this- how do we feel?

Angry? "Coz it's not MY bl**dy fault life is like this! F**k this and f**k you OTHER people."
Depressed? ... "Nothing will change now. We're all going to die anyway. What's the point?"

These two responses are pretty negative. Anger denies reponsibility that one is a part of the whole, and whether by choice or not, one has an impact on the whole. Your choices no matter how small have a butterfly effect. Everything is connected. And so it's almost escapism to say that it's not my fault and that I'm not the problem. Depression, on the other hand, can be accepting it all (the ideas you've put across) and accepting even that one is a part of the problem. HOWEVER, this depressed reaction is usually paralysing and without action to do anything about it. Neither reaction therefore takes positive responsibility for the world (positive meaning that you take responsibility and then do something.)

I like to suggest that there is an alternative...

Sometimes people can change their mood, sometimes not (sometimes simply with time, and sometimes they say it's due to other people). But when I do feel like you do, and I want to stress that I DO feel like this from time to time, I generally don't want to stay brewing in that emotion. And so honestly, I sometimes try to escape the ideas by engaging and putting my attention to another idea or activity. This isn't particularly responsible either. Or- as proven yesterday with a friend- you can laugh at the whole negative aspect and horror of the world. We were talking about slavery and joking, pretty blackly, about how many slaves we'd both shipped accross (Not true btw ha). So yes- one can even laugh at negativity. One can laugh at oneself and humanity sometimes, and having that sense of humour can lighten the weight of it all I believe. Perhaps that's escapism. But who's to say escapism is always negative? There is safety in not facing the world as you have. But now that you have faced it, what are you going to do?

A side-thought to something you wrote (of us being a parasytes): Now perhaps this is science-when we (hummanity) don't have a predator to fear and a predator who succeeds at keeping our population relatively equal- we're bound to become our own predators and destroy ourselves.

In conclusion, I think you're a good guy Kohadre, and I believe I can understand your anger. I don't believe it's wrong for you to feel like that. Not that you asked for my or our opinions, but I hope you feel like you're not alone at least. I also hope you can hold these ideas lightly without being constantly bitter about it. There is some good in life- but sometimes you have to search for them, fight even for it and appreciate the things you do have and can feel.

Anyway- best of luck mate and take care
