A Wizard of Earthsea's Epigraph wrote: Only in silence the word,
only in dark the light,
only in dying life:
bright the hawk's flight

Any other fans of Ursula Le Guin's taoist-inspired fantasy masterpiece, A Wizard of Earthsea, and its sequels?

There's a huge amount in there for Jedi and fans of fictional Jedi, both in the development of Sparrowhawk himself and the other wizards he encounters. The power of words and thoughts... the system of opposites that underlies the world. I don't want to give away plot points, but there's a lot more. If you like fantasy and you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

Need alone is not enough to set power free: there must be knowledge.

If you only saw the very messy Ghibli film, don't judge it on that. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't really Earthsea, nor was it the plot of any of the books, as I suppose the title suggested.

"That is between me and my shadow," Ged answered shortly.
