Just reading a story about this man who's trying to track down someone who stopped him from taking his life in 2008. Since then he's turned his life around and is helping other people who are in the same situation.
All it took to save a life was simply asking a stranger if they'd like to have coffee. And not just this life, but through the work and publicity this act inspired probably hundreds more.
We're so used to hearing how a "moment's carelessness" can ruin a life... but it's also true that a "moment's kindness" can save a life, and start a snowball effect of positive change and action in the world. It would be nice if a few more anonymous strangers created a few more moments of kindness

So, have there been any similar moments of kindness in the news where you are, lately?
Jonny Benjamin had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and was struggling to cope when he attempted to commit suicide on London’s Waterloo Bridge exactly six years ago, on January 14.
‘He was very calm and said “Please don’t do this, I’ve been where you are and you can get better. Let’s have a coffee and we can talk about this,”‘ Jonny said. ‘He reminded me of what people do every day so the normality of it was really inviting.’
Jonny changed his mind and agreed to climb back over the railings, where police were waiting to help him. He has since turned his life around and is now a mental health campaigner, but he is desperate to find the man responsible for saving him that day.
‘His act of kindness changed my outlook on life and I have thought about him ever since. I want to find this man so I can thank him for what he did. If it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t be here today.’

I am impressed... there are still humans with courage, kindness and humility in their hearts.
I´m sure both will never forget what they experienced that day.
Back to topic i actually don´t have direct examples of that kind of courage in the news etc, but i would like to admit, that there people who help people and save lifes every day: doctors, nurses, policemen, firefighters and more...
Those men a our daytime heroes and it´s a matter of course to them
A question i face is: "What about you others?"
Did you had any personal moments of kindness in your memory?
I can remember myselve last christmas. As i walked through the centre of Leipzig i passed the main station. As always there were hundrets of people walking arround.
At one dirty and dark corner near the smokers launge outside, i noticed a girl. Teen age and propably homeless. You could see that she was no typical street Punk sponging after other peoples change, that she could get the next bottle of brandy. Her clothes looked normal to me. Her skin was pale from the cold, she looked hungered out.
I went to her, trying to start a conversation. The first awnser was just "F*** off!!!", so i said nothing and offered a smoke, she agreed.
During the talk i found out that she was banned from home by her parents and had no one else where she could stay the night. She only had the clothes she was wearing...no keas, no money, no blanket.
I asked her to wait a few minutes. I moved into the shopping area of the station and bought some fast food and a blanket from a cheap store (just 2,50€) and went back to her.
She was more than happy about that, so she asked me who to thank me for this...
Well, what did i say?:
"I do not want anything from you! It´s Christmas. No one should suffer in this time of the year."
